Economic Imbalance in Gary Soto's The No-Guitar Blues
The No- Guitar Blues 1. In the beginning of the story Fausto, the little boy wanted to buy a guitar because he had watched a show on TV which flashed in his mind what he wanted to be when he grew up, he wanted to be in an band and be a rock star but in his case, his family was not that wealthy with the little they make they could barely make it through with their expenses, and he thought if he asked them for a guitar he would probably get it but he knew what they would say since they always told him that " money didn’t grow on trees, this reminded me when I was younger and asked my parents to buy me a Barbie and they said the same thing they told Fausto but I understood because that year our economic range was pretty low, but I had that connection with him because I went through the same he went through in the story.

Continuing the story there is a part that mentions Fausto's father worked at a warehouse, where he received good money, but not enough for his family size, I felt connected with this because when my father migrated to the U.S he went through a serious of unfortunate events and he struggled to get a job and when he found one, it was not enough for him to send us to Mexico, since we had stayed behind because my father wanted a better life for us rather than the one we were having, my father struggled for a year with searching for a good job but with that we had to also limit ourselves because of the situation we were in, and this makes me feel sad but in a way connected with the story.
