Drug Testing Workplace
Every four out of five workplaces in the United States since 2006 now require you to take a pre-employment drug test . All employers should be able to give their employees a drug test randomly. But, the question is should employers be allowed to do random drug testing and that’s a big yes from eighty-four percent of all employers. There are many reasons why the employer should drug test at the workplace like to make the workplace a safer environment, also to maintain productivity and attendance, and to improve customer satisfaction. Many believe it’s not okay but let's talk about why all employers should drug test in the workplace.

The drug testing of the workplace makes sure that people are not doing drugs but also that they are productive and are doing there best at all times while working. Substance abusers are ⅓ less productive (Rosen, 2011) therefore when companies have employees that are substance abusers they are losing money. While many would say no to drug testing because it costs a company a lot of money the weakness in it is that the company could be losing money or being sued when workers are being substance abusers and therefore getting hurt. To maintain productivity and have good attendance with your employees all employers should drug test for the benefit of their company. Drug testing can help with the workplace not having any substance abusers in the work area meaning that people are going to be nicer and will make everyone working feel comfortable and making them happier. 8% of full time workers and 11% of part-time workers are substance abusers and they could always come on the job and be high and therefore not being 100 and 10% happy and willing to help customers so that makes customers not want to come back. Depending on the intent of the company, an accident here or there can lead to the nickname of accident-prone. Theft will not be just at the workplace but also in personal life. Drug abusers start by stealing from family and friends and lead to workplace theft. According to National Institute of Drug Abuse; “Sometimes they steal property to get money for drugs.
