Disrespct

Webster’s dictionary defines disrespect as lack of courtesy, rudeness, and lack of respect. As a troop, there is absolutely no reason why I should disrespect a non commissioned officer (NCO) and challenge his authority. Disrespecting an officer shows that I do not respect him being a leader and although I did not display respect at the moment I do respect my NCO. The duties of the Non Commissioned Officers are to keep the moral up and motivate soldiers and encourage them to do their very best and showing disrespect to the NCO’s not only decreases moral, it also makes it to where the NCO thinks less of the person and lowers the person’s credibility. “Respect will take you and carry you where money never will.” These words were spoken to me countless times by my parents as a young child. Growing up in the south being raised by my mother and grandmother I was taught to show nothing but respect not just for my elders, teachers, or persons of authority but for my peers as well. As a result of those teachings I have also brought my children up to have respect for others. Respect has always been a part of me, because I know that respect garners respect. If I show respect for others it is usually reciprocated and it is made for better working conditions when there is an element of respect. I don’t want to make any excuses for my actions, however due to my recent illness and medication I haven’t been myself. Disrespect is not something that I normally due so I know that I was not myself the day I disrespected my NCO and I do apologize for my actions.
