Difference Between Christianity And Buddhism
1. Origin - Buddhists do not believe in a divine entity; therefore, their teaching on the origin of man greatly differs from that of Christianity. Buddhists seem to take a more philosophical view when it comes to explaining that man was a product of millions of years of evolution. In contrast, the origin of life according to a Biblical worldview centers on the creation of the heaven, earth, and all organisms by creator God (Gen 1:1).
2. Identity – The Christian worldview expresses what is stated in Psalms 139:14 about our being “fearfully and wonderfully made” for God and in His image. In contrast, Buddhist identity on this earth revolves around achieving perfection by man’s standard.
3. Meaning/Purpose - In a small way, Christianity and Buddhism share similar beliefs in their purpose on earth which is to be generally good and happy. Where they differ is their reasoning for achieving this. Christians seek to honor and glorify God and bring others to Christ through testimony, whereas Buddhists seek happiness for their individual satisfaction.

Buddhists attribute morality to one’s ego, whereas for Christians it comes from an inner change and working of the Holy Spirit.
5. Destiny - The greatest difference between Buddhism and Christianity lies with the belief in destiny. Christianity teaches an afterlife of a literal heaven or hell. Buddhists do not believe in an afterlife but rather in karma, which based on your present day good or bad actions will have an affect on your next

Buddhism and Christianity are two of the world's greatest and most influential religions. The Christian religion, like all other religions has its strengths and weaknesses in our modern society. Perhaps the strengths out weight the weaknesses as this is one of the largest religions in the world. Hundreds of people follow the Catholic/Christian religion yet still a greater number follow yet other religions. Perhaps this is because they see the weaknesses or perhaps it is simply because their parents have taught them that it is a sin to follow this religion. We define as "Christian" any person or group who thoughtfully, sincerely, prayerfully regard themselves as Christian. This is the definition that pollsters use. However, it includes the full range of faith groups who consider themselves to be Christians, including Assemblies of God members, Presbyterians, Roman Catholics, Southern Baptists, United Church members, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, etc. Many Christians have a much less inclusive definition of the term "Christian." Buddhism is an offspring of Hinduism, and it is similar in many ways to Hinduism. It began in India in about the 6th century B.C. and from there it spread throughout Asia. Today it is found mainly in Japan, China, and the Far East. Very few people in India itself are Buddhists today.…

It is simply following the teachings to achieve Nirvana. Both religions follow righteousness and believe in reincarnation and the many different paths to enlightenment and that our suffering is caused by attachment to people and things in the world. Hinduism is about understanding existence, Brahma, within Atman, meaning soul or self. Buddhism is understood as to find Anatman not the self or soul. In Buddhism, one follows a life of discipline to understand and move through that nothing is oneself, dispelling the illusion of existence and achieving Nirvana.
