Descriptive Essay: A Trip To Coney Beach
When one thinks of summer, it immediately comes to mind the sight of sandy beaches, amusement parks and hot sunny days. Coney Island, an extravagant vacation playground to visit especially for the summer. I have recently had an opportunity to come to such a wonderful place that the sights are still engraved in my mind. There were other attractions that I have missed out on mainly since I had only one day there. If time was not an issue, I would have definitely visited more programs that they provide. Getting there is also not a problem due to their cheap and handy subway system. One thing to be cautioned about is that it can get extremely busy on the weekends, so the best time to be there would be on the weekdays, especially if you do not want …show more content…

If laying around and catching some ray is not your type of fun, there are beach volleyball courts set up, kites to be flown here and safe swimming with lifeguards on the look out. Gazing at the sandy shore, you can see the roaring waves rushing in, toppling forts and castles made out of silken sands that shimmers under the blazing sun like tiny luminous stars in the night sky. Take advantage of this peaceful, quiet moment by standing on the shoreline and wait for the rolling ocean water slide by the ankles of your leg. As the waves try to pull back in, you will feel a sinking sensation on the heels of your foot due to the pressure of your weight and the surrounding sand. Lastly, there is an area for youths with a big, plastic palm tree set up in the middle and tiny sprinklers around it, spraying cold, chilling drops that can be felt even to the people strolling on the boardwalk. The beach is always crowded with families and couples to enjoy on their days off and especially on Friday nights, gorgeous firework shoot off can be seen starting at 9:30p.m. (Only during the summer …show more content…
The three feature listed above are what makes Coney Island well-known and can be enjoyed by anyone of all ages and race. Definitely try on at least one of their extreme rides when visiting Luna Park. On the boardwalk, expand your horizon by eating at their popular eateries and trying out the different dishes that is served only at Coney Island. As for the beach, sure, there are other beaches similar from around the world, but do not miss out on how this beach is connected with two other attractions unlike other beaches which gives this an A-plus. So if you ever need a place for the upcoming summer or spring break, be sure to visit Coney

Of course, “the popular resort quickly became a symbol not only of fun and frolic but also of major changes in American manners and morals.” (13) As Coney Island becomes more popular with “strikingly heterogenous and diverse population with a variety of culture and subcultures” (8) it was a good mechanism “to provide cultural leadership for an urban-industrial society; to present a model of social order, cohesions, and tranquility for a fractious people.” (14) As Coney Island was becoming more popular and entertaining as the population grew, and “the genteel middle-class cultural order crumbled” (10) and in came the less modest and more free minded individual. Depending on what time one woke up the following morning, when you walked outside you would get a whiff of the Sandbar’s burgers on the charcoal grill that would instantly capture your stomach’s attention. If that did not draw you near to the shack-like bar, the Beach Boys music that was blasting loud would. Since we normally go in the summer, I am used to watching the PGA Masters event on the Sandbar’s Sony 72” flat screen. Below the Sandbar’s deck are a flight of stairs. The bottom 3 steps are covered in sand that has a consistency similar to that of flour. As you step onto the sand for the first time of the day, you would find it hot from hours of exposure to the morning sun. The sand would be rather tossed at the step-in spot from where earlier beach patrons had previously stepped and are now walking around in front of you either…

Have you ever wanted something so bad that once you have it you kind of sit back and reevaluate everything that just happened and you just need a small breather to take everything in? There’s just something about nature that takes my breath away and takes me to a different dimension. It makes feel so calm and so at ease with myself. It makes me feel joy just looking at the small things in life. It makes me appreciate the smallest things, such as a beautiful sunflower growing in my backyard, and just sitting on my royal blue towel with flowers, that would remind you of Hawaii, on the sandy beach with my feet stretched out in front me staring into the ocean ,while squinting my eyes due to the powerful sun rays, takes my breath away everytime I look back into the moment I went to Myrtle Beach.…

The birds are another aspect that really makes the beach experience vivid. There are so many different types of birds and the way they fly together is always something to admire. The seagulls which are the most common soar through the sky skimming the top the of the ocean water. They always seem to be up to something whether it be looking for food or simply wandering the beach. Besides the seagulls, there are all the other creatures that live in the environment which are present from time to time. The sand crabs, jellyfish, and the random fish and dolphins that you see once in a great while always make the ocean more interesting. From the top, the ocean looks so plain and blue but from under, the true colors…

Rock Point camp is a beautiful place. A white shelled yellow sandy beach, taking up most of the camp.
