In the world, there are many definitions and variations to words, but the world falls short when attempting to define the word poverty. People in the world, claim to easily define poverty with definitions like anyone who cannot afford basic resources or if one is homeless they suffer from poverty, but little do they know that they are greatly mistaken. Poverty owns a median, a median that only a select few fall under, which is truly unfair. There is a median that poverty carries along, drawing out the boundaries, for who is considered to be under poverties grasp, while the world decides who gets the support needed to break free from its hold. . America, one of the greatest nations on the planets, has issues with poverty. Although, Americas government has supports systems that help guide and aid those who suffer from poverty, these support systems don’t reach out to all those who are in need. In America, “36,000 dollars for a family of three” is not considered a family who suffers from poverty. In the world we live in now, $36,000 is barely enough to support a single man with all the necessities for a healthy life, which creates a very uncomfortable and difficult to support a family of 3 with such little money .This margin is set this high, due to the belief and representation of the previous, well known original definition of poverty. The new definition, allows this margin to cover a broader array of people, decreasing the amount of poverty in America (specifically). This definition of poverty is completely incorrect, poverty is much more than wealth, and it has a further deeper than physical wealth. Poverty deadly grasp can be upon the richest men in the world (wealth isn’t everything), drawing the conclusion that the original definition is irrelevant. Poverty is a choice for everyone, (it’s like a decision) no matter what country one may live in or born to, or how much wealth one possesses, poverty can always be escaped. Bill Gates, One of the richest man in the world, said “if you are born poor, it’s not your mistake, but if you die poor, it is your mistake.” Bill Gates’s quote perfectly supports the new definitions, because he implies that the margin line for poverty lie within yourself.
