First of all a curriculum is a written plan defining the strategies to attain a goal or an objective. According to David Pratt “Curriculum is an organized set of formal education and/ or training intentions.” A curriculum is mostly used in an educational system to define the objectives that students must attain in any field of study that is the holistic development is the development of a whole person or student concerning the topic. The holistic development of a child is to make him develop as one person who can integrate the society as well as possible and education is on the best method to attain this objective.
Physical education is the field that is being developed. Physical education is development of the mind, body and social. Physical education is now being developed in a way to include knowledge of the effects of exercise, design of personal programs based on fitness principles, activities that develop fitness and commitment to maintaining fitness.
The NCFs (National Curriculum Framework secondary, published in 2009) has been designed by Mauritius Institute of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of education, Culture and Human Resources. It reflects the aims and objectives of an applied curriculum. “This curriculum framework is a major step forward in the reform of our Secondary School Curriculum. It advocates an inclusive, integrated, holistic and comprehensive approach which, through a balanced curriculum, would help to promote the spiritual, moral, mental and physical development of every child of the Republic, irrespective of her/his socio-economic status and would prepare her/him for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.”
In the NCFs (National Curriculum Framework secondary), physical education is now health and physical education. The curriculum is now * Health related components (such as flexibility, cardio-respiratory endurance and so on.), Motor-related components (balance, speed, and agility.),
