Crystal Healing
The people of the world have always wanted to find the miracle cure for all ailments. However unrealistic this dream may be, some people may never give up on it. For centuries we have believed in vast amounts of different healing techniques. One of the more prominent—and less acknowledged—techniques is crystal healing. Crystal healing is a brand of alternative medicine that involves specific crystals being placed on specific parts of the body. These specific placements are because the crystals correspond to chakras that allow the body of the treated person to have accelerated healing. There are a large amount of healers who currently use this technique to treat their patients today. There are many cases where the patients of crystal healers have improved their condition after treatment. Crystal healing is a powerful technique and is something that the world needs to begin to embrace as a legitimate form of treatment for a wide variety of sicknesses. There is ample evidence to support the existence of healing powers in crystals. People all over the world believe in the power of crystal healing. Patients of crystal healers report feeling the energy from the crystal flow into them. There are scientifically measurable results from crystal healing. The energy cannot be measured, but the healing can be observed. In the article “The Science of Crystal Healing” the author writes, “Energy changes were recorded through the process of high energy physics photography, sometimes called Krilian photography. Even blood platelet changes were photographed under a microscope after a crystal healing.” One of the main points for contention for opponents of crystal healing is the lack of empirical evidence. This data shows that empirical evidence can be found and that crystal healing causes real changes within the body. Author and crystal healing believer Nicole Lanning writes,

Nevertheless all the sources offer evidence in support of the above premise. The phenomenon that we…

My personal favourite holistic method of healing is that which incorporates crystals and chakras into the healing process. Energetic healing has been practiced in almost all civilizations throughout history (Shore 2004:42) and it has been shown that practicing spirituality, crystal healing, and chakra healing do actually contribute to overall calmness and healing of the body and mind (Friedman 2012:2). Using the proper crystals in combination with the chakras related to and on the physical body is said to align that chakra back to its original state, and each chakra is typically associated with certain characteristics and a colour. I learned in a crystal meditation class that the colours of the chakras associate with the colours of the crystals that are best used to balance each specific chakra, and that the characteristics of each chakra will allow you to know whether or not they are in alignment. As everything in the world is made up of vibrating particles, it seems sensible to believe that these crystals, which are made of the earth’s pure elements, can have an impact on our energies through the different frequencies of vibration in combination with our conscious thought that it is healing us. Incorporating spirituality into medicine makes sense as spirituality refers to wholeness of life, be it with…

The scientific mechanisms of acupuncture have puzzled the Western biomedical community for years and Kathy Sykes, a physicist from the University of Bristol, is by no means an exception. In the BBC Documentary The Science of Acupuncture, Sykes attempts to explain acupuncture from a skeptical scientist’s point of view and concludes that acupuncture is effective for treating certain kinds of pain. However, her research provides neither reliable nor concrete evidence on the efficacy of acupuncture for the audience. The general audience may find the documentary interesting as it relies on various techniques…

Currently, Western Medicine in the United States is heavily evidenced based. The therapies and surgeries are validated by clinical trials, are proven to be effective in treating a given disease, and have often been successful at eradicating certain illness and diseases. With modern medicine, the common end goal is to cure. The healing hospital paradigm takes a different approach to medicine. It focus is on healing, on the recovery and wellness of the patient. It is a holistic approach to medicine; which encompasses the whole person: mind, body and spirit. There are there major elements of healing hospitals: a healing physical environment,…

Thomas, Stephenson, Swanson, Jesse and Brown (2013), define Healing Touch (HT) as an energy/biofield-therapy under the umbrella of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). According to Freel, Hart, Hylock and Lutgendorf (2011), the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) contends that biofield-therapies include two modes of energy: the first type is veritable energy, which is documented in allopathic medicine and can be measured in “wave lengths or frequencies, such as mechanical vibrations of sound, visible light…” (p.520) and the other type is putative energy which are the “electromageneticfields” (p.520) too subtle to measure such as that of the human energetic anatomy, in particular, the aura which is also known as the human bio-field, the chakras, and the meridians. Of these subtle energy systems just mentioned the energy of the chakras are most manipulated and influenced during Healing Touch (HT) treatment. When the chakra system is in a balanced state, it provides vital energetic support to the physical, mental, and spiritual anatomy. HT is administered by incorporating “intentionality and presence … using a group of noninvasive [hand] techniques to help balance energy systems [in and] surrounding the body and restore harmony to both the human and the environmental fields” (Thomas et al., 2013, p.2). Researchers Freel et al. (2011); Pierce (2007); and Archer (2006) agree that the biofield therapies such as HT are beneficial to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. In addition, Freel et al. (2011) explains that these benefits are measurable by the reduction of “neuroendocrine stress hormones [such as cortisol that] … may enhance immune functions and other body systems”…

At the psychic fair I attended two presentations; one that was about sound healing and the other one was about using past regression to realize your true potential. Before the presentations I had a chance to go around to most of the booths and talk to the person who own them and each one had many things to say about the items they were selling but couldn’t prove that the items actually worked. The healing crystals booth tried to convince me that their crystals worked by grabbing a crystal and pointing it at me, then asking if I felt its power, I answered honestly and said I didn’t feel anything that’s when she stated that I wasn’t in the right state of mind to feel its power so she invited me to go to her presentation to learn about it but…
