Business Communication I

Course Instructor: Prof. Manujata

Course Objectives: • Understand Self • To enable understanding of basics of communication • To impart knowledge about communication theory and develop skills in oral and non verbal communication; listening and interpersonal skills

Other Course Policies: 1. Students are expected to be present in the class rooms for the lectures before the instructor. Late entrants will not be allowed entry in the classroom. 2. Students are expected to be punctual in all respects and they should try to submit their assignments before the last date of submission. 3. Students must bring along the prescribed text book for every session. 4. Assignments and projects should be the original work of a student. Plagiarism is viewed very strictly and would lead to deduction of marks. 5. Students absenting themselves from a session due to involvement in co-curricular and extra- curricular activities must present written application letter, duly signed by the concerned authorities. 6. Since a major part of internal evaluation will take place during in-class sessions, it is advisable that students do not absent themselves from any of these sessions as it will otherwise hamper the assessment of the concerned student.

Exams: Internal (50%), End Term Written Exam (50%)

Class Participation: Students' performance is evaluated continuously throughout the Trimester by way of their participation in the classroom discussion, case studies, project work, presentation, assignment, quizzes, etc. Hence, all students are expected to actively participate in all classroom activities.

Based on participation in classroom activities (Letter/Memo/Email writing, Speaking, Listening Skills, Theatre Technique, etc. Total 50 marks)
