1:1 The whole ethos behind a child centred model of Assessment and planning is that it is totally person centred and focuses solely on that individual child. It focuses on their specific needs and what extra multiagency support is required to enhance and assist them. It also encourages that each child has their own voice and choice, and enables them to be individuals and have self expression. The children are encouraged and supported to be in control of their own decisions and self explore arid use their own initiative and imagination, therefore hopefully gaining confidence and a sense of independance. All of the above will hopefully reflect positively in their future lives and experiences.

This can then be revisited over a period of time and recorded to see a pattern of improvement or areas needing further or additional support. With a verbal more able child it's is good practice to ask them what the have difficulty with and what areas they think they can improve on giving them a sense of control of their own lives. Another way of establishing a child's needs is by linking in with parents and other professionals involved with the child's care. This is a good method and will enable continuity and hopefully by everyone working together there will be no areas of identified needs missed. Support workers and Carers should liaise with one and other to look at the recordings from observations . This can then be another means for identifying areas in which a child has additional needs. This can then be recorded and actioned
