I.A HISTORICAL BACKGROUD
Internet and books are two very comparable terms as both provide valuable information, but vastly differ when we compare the time taken to provide the information by the two. The internet began with the development of electronic computers in the 1950s. The public was first introduced to the concepts that would lead to the internet when a message was sent over the ARPANet from computer science Professor Leonard Kleinrock’s laboratory at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), after the second piece of networks equipment was installed at Standford Research Institute (SRI). Packet switched networks such as ARPANET, Mark I t NPL in the UK, CYCLADES, Merit Network, Tymnet, and Telenet, were developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s using variety of protocols. The ARPANET in particular led to the development of protocols for internetworking, in which multiple separate networks could be joined together into a network of networks. (en.wikipedia.org)
Before the internet was available, books were the only source people turned to for any bit of information, we used to flock to the library and searched for the book that contained relevant information. It is now thing of past to go to library as the whole library is now at our finger tips in the form of internet. One marvels at the amount of information and speed with which one can get information regarding anything. Both internet and books are two very different sources but earlier generation still prefer to read books and like to collect them as souvenir. (Answers.com)
Internet changed the way people looked at the books as it provided all from history to literature, education to entertainment all at one click.
