Where else to begin? Toronto has some of the best restaurants in the world, and its multiculturalism lends itself to a wide variety of cuisines. If you're as committed to carbs as I am, you have to check out Terroni. This Italian restaurant has locations across the city, so you'll be able to access one wherever you're staying, but my personal favourite is the Adelaide site. It’s housed inside of an old court house and jail, and you can even see some of the cells in the washrooms downstairs! This restaurant may have a few quirks (like their refusal to make changes to the menu or serve pre-cut pizza), but the delicious food is definitely worth the slight annoyance. If you prefer pasta, I recommend the Spaghetti al Limone, a tangy lemon dish which is light but still slightly creamy and definitely filling enough for a full meal!…

The establishment that I chose to servicescape is the Suede restaurant. Suede is an elegant Caribbean restaurant, which is located at 5610 Clarendon Rd, East Flatbush, NY 11203. The owner, Celia Belyn, created the restaurant in a non-gentrified neighborhood because she felt that there is not a lot of restaurant like this and she want to help develop the area. Plus, it would get her a lot of business because it would be convenient for people in the neighborhood. She also stated that she wanted to “elegantly fuses all aspects of traditional taste and modern elegance to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience.”…

The restaurant I picked was Noches de Colombia in Englewood, NJ. The reason I landed on this restaurant is because I know the manager there and it was easy for me to explain to him on what I was doing. The restaurant is by my hometown, so I figured I would visit my family, get good food and complete this assignment.…

Diversity is growing in every direction and it is apparent in the food industry. Barrows, C., Powers, T., & Reynolds, D. (2012), “One of the great factors accounting for the success of ethnic restaurants, for instance, is America’s already great diversity. The number and scope of ethnic dining options has increased dramatically in recent years, especially in smaller markets” (Ch. 2, pg. 44, para. 5). Because the world is becoming so diverse, we now have access to different foods and cuisines that we would not typically be able to get unless going to those specific countries. With diversity, the hospitality industry is growing more and more each year and all different types of cultures are being introduces, so the industry needs to learn how to adapt and handle the changes to be able to keep up with the demand as well.…

A big part of New York is the food. You haven’t had a cheese steak until you’ve had a New York cheese steak. Every block is lined with places to eat. Whether it is a restaurant where gourmet meals are served, a bakery where you can order fresh cannolis fully loaded with a sinful sweet, creamy filling, or a sweaty hot dog stand on the sidewalk where you can get a hot dog and have a competition with the customer in front of you of who can pile on the most condiments. You can get Chinese food from Chinatown or the best the best pizza you’ll ever have from Italy without actually having to go to Italy. You can most definitely taste the love of New York through their food.…

Food in America is a passion. This country has elevated the art of gastronomy to a pinnacle seldom seen in the annals of human history. While other countries can boast a longer culinary history, and a more narrowly defined cuisine, America’s position in the culinary world is supported by their unapologetic lack of these constraints. American cuisine has been influenced by a great many things. Primary among the influences has been the introduction of immigrant cultures into the “Great American Melting Pot” resulting in an eclectic cuisine unique in the world for its diversity and surprising homogeneity. The “Melting Pot” metaphor is appropriate, as the immigrants of different nationalities retained their cultural characters’ and yet blended together to become a single people. As such, dining in the United States demands a knowledge of all the…

Growing up in Southern West Virginia I wasn’t exposed to many different cultures. My little farm community was made up of mainly family. There was one restaurant, three churches, one Elementary school, one Jr. High and one Senior High School. As time progressed we got our first Chinese restaurant, it was a big hit. During lunch time at school my friends and I would sneak out the back and head to the buffet, this was a fun part of my teenage years. Several years later a Mexican restaurant was added, and became equally popular. Our little community is still small but these two restaurants remain, and thrive.…

The citizen of Chicago has a huge advantage over others. They don’t have to drive hours to find the food they want and they never worried about what to eat. Like most of the global city, Chicago has huge variety of food. The Chinatown provides huge variety of Chinese food and emphasized on the famous cooking style around China. I had visited all restaurants across the Chinatown over two years time. The authentic of the food is great in old town. However, in the new town area they modified and improvised on the food with a little American element. If you are the type person who like to enjoy spicy and grilled food, you should just started making your way to the west of the Cermak. The two distinguished neighborhood pilsen…

New York City is known as a center of art, culture, fashion and finance with iconic sites such as Times Square, The Statue of Liberty, and The Empire State Building. There are certain aspects which are easily identified with New York City such as skyscrapers, rap, the subway, and Broadway. However, in my mind, there is one aspect of New York City which I feel represents the city as a whole. One place that can be found in each neighborhood with different ambiences and different people. Diners are delightful environments and food joints serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Diners show the traits which make New York City so enjoyable for me.…
