Given that Native American tribes are different from typical American, the Choctaw tribe is west of the Mississippi river, and adjoining part of Louisiana.The Choctaw tribe was a peaceful tribe. They were the largest tribe of the Muskogean tribe. Most of the Choctaw Indians stayed in what is now called the homeland located in central Mississippi. Some of the Choctaw Indians stay in other states other than Mississippi, they are Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida.

Choctaw public schools started in 1821. In 1829, the Mississippi State Legislature passed a law abolishing Choctaw tribal Government, extending the law of Mississippi over Choctaw and their lands. In 1979, the Choctaw people voted for and adopted a document which would serve as the guide for an interim government and the proposed Constitution. In 1990, Choctaw Indians purchased a shopping center in Oklahoma. Choctaw Reservation Indians generated an average of $1.5 million in gross sales each month. A smoke shop was constructed inside a shopping center, provided 10 full-time jobs. Most smoke shops provided full-time jobs for 31 individuals. The Choctaws signed a law with the Confederate government in 1861. In 1902 the Choctaw and Chickasaw signed a supplement to the Atoka Agreement in order to expedite the allotment process and facilitate implementation of the Curtis
