Chipotle Mexican Grill Company

Chipotle is a Mexican grill company. Its name derives from Chipotle the Mexican Spanish name for a smoked and dried jalapenos chili pepper. Their products are focus on burritos and tacos. Chipotle has four different types of choice. They are burrito, taco, bowl, and salad.
When I go to Chipotle, I like to order the burrito and bowl.
Current process:
1. Burrito/tacos/bowl: the customer arrivers the Chipotle and choose from an option of Burrito, Rice Bowl or Taco.
2. Rice and Meat: then choose the type of Rice (brown or white) along with their choice of Meat (beef, chicken or pork)
3. Salsa and Salad: choose the type of Salsa (mild, medium, and hot) along with veggie options (lettuce, corn, sour cream or guacamole)
4. Wrapping: same person or different one will warp the food
5. Pricing and Payment: the employee will ask you about the chips and drinks, and then you finish the payment.

I did a text in Chipotle at noon, and it took me 1minute 45 seconds to finish the order. The process is pretty fast. It saves o lot time to get a hot burrito. However, Chipotle still has chance to improve the service. How could Chipotle deal with some issues to reduce the time of process? Firstly, We look up the five steps of finishing an order. It looks like that the first and last step takes the most time. Actually, the last step took me the longest time. I saw a news on the website about Chipotle, which is spending millions dollars on the heater improvement. This change will make the process, which is able to reduce 0.5 second. I saw they only put the burrito in the heater for 3-4 seconds. This small change takes 0.5 second out of the whole 1 minute 45 seconds. This decision is too small to improve the process, and it is just a small parts of the order time. On the other hand, Chipotle might be thinking about other way like the last step.

The last step: Pricing and Payment. In my experience, the employee finished warping my burrito, and

When Chipotle opened its first store in 1993, the idea was simple: demonstrate that food served fast didn 't have to be a "fast-food" experience (Chipotle.com, 2010). Chipotle uses high-quality raw ingredients, classic cooking methods and a distinctive interior design. In the past year, Chipotle reached an important milestone of serving 100% naturally raised chicken in all of its U.S. restaurants while increasing the quantity of naturally raised beef to more than 60%. During 2008, Chipotle increased its revenue by 22.7%.…

Chipotle’s mission is to change the way people look at the fast food. They use fresh and high-quality raw ingredients and classic cooking methods. Chipotle’s restaurants have also friendly environment and the workers who are happy to talk with their customers while serving them. All of this is done very quickly similar to the fast food. However, the experience is completely different compared to “fast-food experience”. They serve high-quality food that is made very carefully but an order is ready in seconds and despite this, they still charge reasonable prices from their customers. In addition, for people who doesn’t want to stand in line, Chipotle accepts online orders through the phone application and they also provide catering, except Chipotle…

In the 90's it was very hard to find a fast pace food environment that could actually serve quality food, that’s where Chipotle began to stand out. Bringing authentic and fresh Mexican ingredients is one of the many things that makes chipotle stand out to their competition. Chipotle meats are fresh, never frozen, left over night to marinate and grilled fresh every hour .They raise their cattle in humane conditions which help the quality of their meat, from my experience at dinging in this restaurant it always carries a peculiar taste as compared to other restaurants who have added hormones to enhance flavors. You can taste the unadulterated flavors in their vegetables, salsas, and guacamole versus the genetically modified condiments provided at other establishments. Chipotle is one of the few places that thrive on quality and quantity in a fast food environment yet still guarantying fresh flavorful organic ingredients. For those who are now a part of the health conscious wave this is without a doubt the best option for not only them but for…

Chipotle serves nutritional Mexican dishes that cater to people with dietary needs. An individual picks out the food items that make up one’s meal. One can customize the meal to fit a certain lifestyle. “Chipotle offers a menu of burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla), and salads made from fresh, high-quality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods” (Martin; par. 3). Vegans can choose what goes into their salad or taco. Meat isn’t necessary. Other people could make their burritos or burrito bowls gluten-free or dairy-free. Cheese isn’t necessary. What one orders from Chipotle could be tailored in a variety of ways.…

Chipotle has a lot of strengths when talking about their success within the company. Chipotle is well recognized in the U.S., U.K., and Canada with over 37,000 employees. One of Chipotle’s statements are “Food with integrity is our commitment to finding the very best ingredients raised with respect for the animals, environment, and the farmers.” Nowadays, people are moving towards eating organic foods and more healthy than normal. Chipotle is usually the busiest around lunch time because everyone loves to go there during their lunch breaks. Now, you have the option to order your food online and set a specific time for it to be ready. All you have to do is walk on in and give them your name and your food is ready for pick up. I love Chipotle because it fills me up and the food is freshly made. I don’t have to worry about anything being thrown in the microwave or oven. The food is made right in front of us. That is definitely a plus because we don’t have to worry about anything happening to our food behind closed doors and a lot of customers worry that cooks don’t wear gloves when cooking food. There is a phone app for iPhone users that makes it easier to order food with just a touch of one button. Another strength is that Chipotle is company owned, so there is no franchising involved. It’s better that way because the individuals that run all of the restaurants are more experienced.…

These core competencies have helped Chipotle grow into the company that it is now. These core capabilities are vital to their strategy and they were able to utilize their resources more efficiently with the help of these capabilities. By doing a focused menu, Chipotle was able to bring in fresh ingredients to their stores and they were also able to manage the costs of these ingredients more effectively and avoid complications, which is the reason why most of Chipotle’s menu items have not changed since it opened. Their menu items can be customized to a customer’s preference, wherein a customer can choose what ingredients they want to be in their taco or burrito while moving along the line where an employee will add the ingredients while entertaining the customer; this adds a nice touch to their customer service. Chipotle has also been able to attract employees because of their favorable work conditions, wherein employees get training that has a high standard and a high chance for promotion. This has helped Chipotle grow into what it is now, since their employees also get to grow their careers there. Statistics show that ninety-eight percent of Chipotle’s salaried managers and hourly managers were promoted from crew members, which shows that Chipotle really gives their employees room to grow, which gives them a workforce that is effective and performance oriented.
