Describe the factors to take into account when planning healthy and safe indoor and outdoor environments and services taking into account the individual age and abilities of the children or young people being planned for: eg climbing equiptment for older children identifying specific risks to individual children or young people eg those with sensory impairment; identifying the needs of adults where relevant eg resources, equipment or training; ratios of staff to children, first aid trainer to be with group at all times recognising the duty of care; meet regulatory requirements eg EYFS, Ofsted links to the desired outcomes for children and young people eg Every Child Matters; recognition of the lines of responsibilities and accountability use guidance eg EYFS, Ofsted

    The most direct approach to ensuring a safe and healthy workplace is to design systems of work that are safe and without risk to health. This can often only be done satisfactorily at the design, planning or purchasing stage. It may be far more difficult to modify existing machinery or systems of work to eliminate or reduce hazards, than at the investment stage.
