EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The health club - Orange Fitness will serve corporate businesses, helping them to become more productive, while lowering their overall costs.
Our business is based on two facts:
„« Healthy employees are more productive than chronically ill employees.
„« It costs less to prevent injuries or illnesses than to treat them after they occur.
At Orange Fitness, we tie worker productivity directly to the health care issue. We believe that traditional approaches to the current health care crisis are misdirected. These traditional efforts are what we call reactive - that is, they wait until after the worker has been stricken with illness or injury, and then pay for the necessary treatments. Our approach, which emphasizes prevention and good health promotion, is much more proactive.
By helping employees change their behavior

In order to achieve this goal the CDC promotes positive health based programs both in communities and places of employment. If employers create a healthier workplace then not only will it decrease the likelihood that employees will have to miss work due to injury or illness, it will also ensure higher productivity from staff. If companies enact policies and procedures that support health it will make that company more attractive place to work for both existing employees and potential new employees. The five main categories that CDC recommends offering health information and care for employees are behavioral health, health screening, mental health, injury, and adult immunizations (CDC, 2013). Providing services for things like depression, alcohol and substance abuse, smoking cessation, and nutrition courses will help provide overall better lives for employees which will result in having more highly motivated productive workers while they are on the job.. Some ideas for promoting a healthier workplace to lower obesity would be offering lunches to employees to purchase that consist of fresh fruits, vegetables, and salads. Employers can put together exercise groups or offer reimbursement to employees who obtain gym memberships and attend at least four…

Heath Maintenance Organizations (HMO’s) have substantially lower hospitalization rates per person than Fee for Service (FFS) insurance plans because of the use of preventative medical care. On page 318, it shows an example that “HMO’s often tout their uses of preventive services as a way of reducing health care costs”. This statement shows that by helping the patients fix the problem or prevent the problem from occurring before hand, there is less hospitalization because you stopped or saw the problem coming before it became worse.…

The U.S. has an unfortunate history of establishing health promotion and disease prevention as a top priority. The insurance system has encouraged treatment-oriented rather than prevention-oriented health care philosophy. Insurance rarely paid for disease prevention before managed care. One would think that by avoiding the circumstances that lend to a chhronic illness or death from happening would be a priority, but there seems to be more satisfaction and remuneration from saving lives instead. (Sultz & Young, 2017).…

As a teenager up until the age of 23 I have always been able to maintain a weight of around 135 pounds, even after I had my daughter at the age of 22. Right before I turned 24, in less than 6 months I had worked at three jobs, two of which I gotten laid off and the third I left due to the hours that I was required to work. During that time, my stress level had increased tremendously and I went on an eating binge, and stayed up late playing video games and not getting enough sleep. Well I started to see myself gaining weight, I told myself that I was not happy with the way I looked and I was going to do something about it, I joined Bally’s Fitness. That did not last very long, I was going to the gym two times a week for at least 2 months and did not see much of a change so I gave up going and just decided to start eating right, that helped a bit, I was doing ok I told myself and then shortly after that I got divorced and the stress from all the consequences of getting divorced made me loose a lot of weight, which was great but I lost it in an unhealthy way. I was able to keep the weight off, until I got involved in a relationship which after a couple of years went downhill and I became very depressed, which led to another eating binge and the weight gain came back in no time. With the positive influence from friends I was able to join a group at work in which we walked 3 times a day, 15 mins for both our morning and afternoon break and about 20 -25 mins during our lunch, we did this everyday we were at work. You are probably wondering what was the purpose behind this first paragraph? I just wanted to give you a bit of my background with my challenges due to my weight.…
