Abstract
Doing something special for the one you love is something that has been done throughout the ages. Studies have shown not only does an act of kindness strengthen personal relationships in marriage, but it also has positive health benefits resulting from social family gatherings and traditions. The proposed project presents a scenario of exploiting such a positive bonding. It shows the results of what can be accomplished by a bringing together an annual special occasion and creatively fusing it with family interaction. My wife has her 31st birthday coming up in 6 months and both of us have not seen family in years. The best opportunity to celebrate her birthday with family and do it in a special way for her, would be during a surprise dinner event held in her hometown. Project selection is appropriately aligned with strengthening marital as well as family ties. The paper explores potential dinner venues of commercial, catering, and home using a multi-weighted scale matrix. It lays out a project scope, vision, and goal. A detailed Work Breakdown Structure provides the basis for the top-down/bottom-up cost estimation, scheduling activities, and resources allocation analysis. A project network path is presented to identify the critical path in the project. Recommendations are offered to avoid potential risk factors and contingency scenarios. Ultimately the project hopes to achieve a surprised spouse on her birthday with friends and family, on time and within budget.

Reason for Project
I’ve always loved my wife from the time we became best friends in college and she has continued to prove her love to me with every passing day we are married. My career in the military has taken her away from family and friends that she often doesn’t get to visit with. Our daily schedules are so busy at times it

Childhood memories of dinnertime hold a special place in my heart. What used to be a daily experience of family unity and sharing is unfortunately now reserved for holidays and an occasional Sunday or birthday gathering. Rather than each family member drifting into his or her own individual world as their life grew busier, we always had the interaction during mealtime to strengthen our family bonds and enrich the daily experience of community life. My mother would create a meal consisting of either a pasta, or meat and potato type meal for our family of six. Our evening meal always included a salad, plenty of vegetables, and a basic dessert like brownies, pie, or ice cream. There was never an official dinner time since my dad’s schedule varied. Therefore,…

Even generations ago, my family members realized how difficult it was to fit in time to see distant family members. That’s why since my great grandmother was around, we’ve spent one day during the holiday season participating in what we call The Progressive. As the tradition goes, each family is required to prepare one part of the traditional five course meal, the assignment of which rotates between the families each year. Each family prepares their part of the meal and hosts it at their home, allowing the entire family to visit everyone’s home and “progress” through one giant five course meal throughout the course of the day. It has, without a doubt, provided some of my family’s favorite stories throughout the years while allowing us to reflect on the year’s past with each other. Although it has been around since my grandparents were children, it has changed drastically since it’s inception those many years ago.…

Ignorance. That is the only way that a marriage may last. I know the love is gone, and it has been gone for a long while now, but I choose to ignore it. Ignorance. We have known each other our whole lives and saying “I love you” comes as natural as brushing my teeth in the morning. We ignore the fact that it is no longer meant. Ignorance. The fact that I pretend I do not know my wife is hiding something. I see it in her eyes when she will not look at me. Ignorance. The only reason we stay together is for the kids, for the image of a perfect and happy family. Ignorance. Knowing that she is as unhappy as I, but saying everything will be okay, it’s a rough patch. I choose to live…
