1972 was Billie jeans banner year, she won US open,French open,Wimbledon and claimed three grand slam titles in a year.(1) In 1973 she threatened to boycott the US open demanding that equal pay be addressed. The pay was discussed and the woman's prize money was raised(2). After that was the “Battle of the sexes”, one of the most popular events that she was involved with, she was challenged by Bobby Riggs who claimed a girl could never play as good or beat a man. She retired from tennis in 1975 but, she loved it so much she resumed and played until 1990,when she resumed she won Wimbledon and US open.(1) After that she came out as a lesbian and divorced her husband and got in a relationship with Llana Kloss, also a tennis player. She also started the she was put into the international tennis hall of fame in 1987. She also had court's named after her and earned Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. Till this day she is still active in tennis. She coached the US Olympic team for two years and she also has a match named after her called the Billie Jean King cup(3). She still helps with all kinds of coaching with co Ed and teens and all kinds of players she stands for what she believes in and she is still in a relationship with Llana Kloss. This was her later life after the rush of her fame years.
