Arguments on Why Pitbulls Should Be Banned
Arguments for pit-bull should be banned

People generally want Pit Bulls and other Bully breeds banned for 2 main reasons:

1. Thugs who need a tough dog to feel tough intentionally doing everything they can to make their dogs mean. This includes, beating, starving, baiting, feeding weird crap like gunpowder....They also never socialize, train, or neuter their dogs. This intentionally creates a dog that is both dog and human aggressive and will most likely kill other pets and end up being euthanized for biting someone.

2. Well intentioned but irresponsible people who refuse to admit that their dog might be aggressive toward other animals. Even though the Pit Bull breed was created to fight combining the Bulldog's power with the Terrier's tenacity and dog aggression, some folks just insist that "Scooter isn't like that. He loves everybody!' These are the ********s who take Scooter to the dog park and can't understand why he ate a Poodle. This breed is more likely to have issues with other dogs than most other breeds and owners need to admit that and not set their dogs up to fail.

If everyone used common sense and compassion when breeding, raising, training, and living with Pit Bulls, there would be no need to talk about banning them. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid and it seems to be contagious.

The reason Pit Bull have to be banned is because it is Constitutionally impossible to ban the types of owners that insist on perpetuating the dangers these dogs present to the public due to their ignorance and arrogance. So, instead of banning the people responsible, the dogs get banned instead and everyone suffers for it.

True; a properly raised, trained, and contained Pit Bull is no danger to the public. But their owners get complacent and cocky because their dog is ''well behaved''. And that's when the proverbial shyytte hits the fan. The dogs natural instincts kick in, the owner isn't prepared for it, and someone gets hurt OR worse.

Most people are unaware of all the good things that Pit Bulls were primarily trained for and what they are capable of. Did you know that Pit Bulls can provide a wide variety of job-related tasks? It’s true. “Many Pit Bulls are not just family companions, but also search and rescue dogs that find missing children and lost dementia patients. Also, they are seizure watch dogs, diabetic alert dogs, comfort nursing home residents and offer a plethora of services to human counterparts” (The Problem). If they were to get rid of Pit Bulls all together, that would not only take them away from people who have them as their household pet, but it would tremendously affect the number of individuals who use this breed of dog for help.…

Over the past half-century, the reputation of pit bulls has grown gradually worse. The breed that once represented America’s dedication and determination on recruitment advertisements is now “a status symbol in drug and gang culture” (Reed, 2008). This trend can be traced back to the 1980s when dog-fighting attracted widespread media publicity. Since then, reports of pit bull attacks has significantly increased, and these breeds are labeled as vicious killers, restricted by the society’s stereotypes. As a result, this topic has stirred up controversy as to whether or not a pit bull ban is an effective way to reduce and prevent more dog attacks in a specific area.…

Should people be allowed to keep pit bull dogs? Pit bull dogs seem to come up in many news topics, and it always seems to be bad news. Nine times out of ten when a dog is in the news it seems to be bad mouthing pit bulls, the news never shows the good side to the breed, which there are a lot of good things about the dogs. As a owner and someone who know many people who own the breed, I strongly disagree. Every breed has the potential to be aggressive and will at some point have at least one instance that another breed will do something bad. I was skeptical about the breed when I was first given the puppy, but now I would never trade her for the world.…

Some people think that Pit Bulls are inherently vicious but that is not true, Pit Bulls are only vicious if someone makes them that way. There are not bad dogs, only bad people. A pit bull is not inherently vicious, if they are aggressive and attack, either the person most likely deserved it or they were trained to do so. Furthermore, Pit bulls are no more vicious than Golden Retrievers, Beagles, and other well known dogs. There was a recent study by the American Temperament Testing Society that tested 122 dog breeds and Pit Bulls had a passing score of 86.8%. Pit Bulls ranked fourth for the highest passing breed in this study. You are very unlikely to be fatally attacked by a Pit Bull. In fact, you are 60 times more likely to die from falling…

Unfortunately getting an accurate number of Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and other breeds traditionally considered dangerous that are currently living as beloved pets without incident, is impossible. So, what gives anyone that right to declare an entire breed unacceptable based on the actions of a few? Those in favor of BSL laws (Breed Specific Legislation) use “facts” and “statistics” reporting, “The danger of pit bulls and Rottweilers is well established, in that they account for 75% of all reported canine-inflicted human deaths in the past two decades.”, to support their argument (“Argument in Support of Breed Bans”). However, a statement by the American Veterinary Medical Association describes the flaws in the “facts”:…

Despite this common opinion, an experiment was once performed. Fifty Pit Bulls were rescued from a fighting ring. Forty nine of the fifty dogs were rehabilitated. Some went to shelters such as Best Friends and many are well-loved family members today. The testing used to determine these dogs' ability to fit into society was exhaustive, extensive, and carefully carried out. Pit Bulls are different from other dogs and potential owners need to be made aware of the facts before considering rescuing or purchasing one. For example, a dog lover who has had Bichons all her life will be sorely surprised unless she does her homework and understand the bully breeds. Pits need a lot of structure, a very pronounced human alpha, training, exercise and lots of attention. The owner needs consistency, time, energy and quite possibly some…

Pit bulls are not a bad breed of dogs as people say they are. They're nice dogs when treated right. They are only aggressive but they're breeding and training. They can't be bad dogs because they don't have a conscious. Michael Vick proved the dogs could be rehabilitated and put Into good homes. All but one dog was ruled safe from aggression. Would it surprise you to learn that pit bulls used to be America’s darlings? Before the mid-80s, stories of pit bull attacks are practically non-existent. There is even some confusion over exactly which breed of dog is a pit bull — the definition includes the American pit bull terrier, the Staffordshire terrier and, at times, the bulldog. This confusion seems to have dogged the breed from the beginning,…

Pit bulls are the most misunderstood dog breed in the world. When people hear the name pit bull they automatically think of dogs fighting and attacking. Pit bulls refers to a range of breeds and, often, a mixed-breed dog. People think they are a very dangerous breed of dog. Because of this, some areas do not allow pit bulls and breeds like them. I do not believe pit bulls should be banned or technical words are breed specific legislation.…

People say pit-bulls are dangerous and that they are monsters; however, humans are the real danger and the real monsters. Pit-bulls should not be blamed for their owners mistakes; therefore, people should not blame an entire dog breed for the few who have been trained to be aggressive and mean. The owners should be at fault, not the breed of the dog; the breed’s owners have raised them to be aggressive and mean. Although, in certain people’s opinions, they are mean to others, but they are actually great dogs to have as pets. Humans have always been the real monster in these situations, yet most people do not see it that way. Society sees only the worst, they will notice when pit-bulls fight with others dog’s or act aggressively towards a human; however, they never blame the owner. There are owners out there that train their dogs to protect them or be aggressively with others dog’s; thus, due to their idiotic move, society looks…
