The Old City of Jerusalem King Abdullah II once said”I look at Jerusalem as being a beacon for the three monotheistic religions”. The old city of Jerusalem represents many of fascinated religious and archeological landmarks. I went there when I was 13 years old. Anyone visited this city certainly he would visit the holy places for Muslims, Christians and Jews, met people divided in a different uneven quarters, taste the most delicious food they offer in their restaurants, and visit the museums in the city. To begin with, the holy places in this city attract many people in different religions. For example, Al Aqsa Mosque, it was the first place where Muslims turns to pray then it changed toward Mecca, and it is the third holiest place for Muslims, they come from the entire world to visit and pray in it. Another place that Christian people come to visit is The Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Christians believe that the church was built because Jesus was buried there. Also, this church is the place of pilgrimage. Christians from all denominations comes every year to this holy place. Another holy place related to AL- Aqsa mosque is The Dome of The Rock. It is a well structured place which is very important and significant place for the three religions. The visitor will be amazed with the beauty and splendor for the three sites.
If person visit this city he will many kinds of people. People in the old city are from different religion and ethnics. Actually, the city is divided into four uneven quarters. First of them, the Muslims quarter, it’s the largest quarter and contains the largest population. Al-Aqsa mosque and the dome of the rock are part of this quarter. The Second one is the Christian quarter which has the Christian people beside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Third, the Jewish quarter, it also called the Moroccan quarter because the Moroccans people lived in this city in the past
