    11. When do dividends become a legal debt of the company? When are they to be recognised as liabilities? Where a company has a constitution that provides for directors to declare a dividend, then a dividend becomes a debt of the company once the dividend is declared. Where no such statement exists in a company’s constitution, then the debt will only arise when the time for payment of the dividend arrives. However, a dividend determined or publicly recommended by the time of completion of the financial report but not on or before the reporting date must not be recognised as a liability as at the reporting date. Instead such a dividend must be disclosed in notes as an event after reporting date. See sections 3.4.1 and 3.4.2 of the chapter.…

Given that the PC market was considered relatively mature, Pollace knew that one question the journalist would almost certainly ask was: “Is Intel planning to extend its ‘Intel Inside’ brand campaign to other product categories, such as cell phones, PDAs,2 and so forth?” It was the same question she asked herself every day, and yet it was still a tough question to answer. The “Intel Inside” campaign was more than ten years old, and there was no question that the campaign had succeeded in creating one of the most valuable brands in the world. But it was Pollace’s primary responsibility to protect, sustain, and build that brand equity. The 15-year Intel veteran was familiar with all the arguments in favor of extending the brand, but she was also acutely aware of the risks: “In thinking about extending our brand, we are definitely exploring uncharted territory. . . . The biggest issue regarding extending the brand is whether—if we extend it—we will dilute the brand in some way. The cost of a mistake is damaging all the brand equity that we have worked so hard to build.”…

Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a mid-market business accounting software package that can run on a Microsoft SQL Server database. There are many companies that use different types of accounting software but one that I would suggest would be Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains. There are two companies that we work for that use this accounting software and are very impressed by what it can do compared to other accounting applications. After doing some research on what Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains can do for a company I strongly recommend it to be used. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains has a lot of features that are great for any company it helps to automate and connect the full range of ERP operations and business intelligence. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains quickly adds new capabilities using built-in personalization tools that help simplify complex development efforts. When using old accounting software Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains makes the migration and updates the data easy to do. When using Microsoft Dynamic Great Plains it helps connect people, information and applications through more than 350 Web services and built-in interoperability with Microsoft Office Communications Server and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. One of the things that Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains does is that it delivers portal-based access to insight across your entire organization.
