Accounting Derivatives
This set of 28 questions, taken from prior examinations, covers topics in Chapters 6, 7, and 9.

The purpose of sample multiple choice questions is to acquaint you with the style and substance of typical exam questions on this material.

Please be aware that:

1. multiple choice format questions are only one of many resources available to prepare for testing events – reading textbook chapters and working through chapter examples, studying the end-of-chapter review problem and accompanying solution, and reviewing assigned homework items and the published solutions may be more powerful methods to increase your understanding of the topics covered in the course.

2. the exam questions used this quarter will be similar but different from these example questions – understanding the main concepts in each chapter is critical to success on the testing events; remembering a sample question may be of some help but the format of questions on the same topic often differs rendering memory a distant second choice to understanding.

The source for exam questions is the textbook, the presentation slides, and lecture discussions that include new information. The presentation slides are a limited selection of topics from the textbook reading material. Those slides will be the source of 1/3rd of the exam questions. Study those slides as they are presented in written PowerPoint form. The lecture discussions regarding slide topics will be the source of 1/3rd of the exam questions. Study written notes and review mental notes collected for those slides. This material includes the professor’s oratory, students’ ideas, new information presented in writing (PowerPoint, Document Camera, Dry Erase Board), and supplementary sources such as videos, audio files, guest speakers, and demonstrations. Finally, and most importantly, the textbook reading material will be the source of 1/3rd of the exam questions. The textbook overlaps significantly with the presentation slides and the lecture discussions. At times, material from the textbook will be repeated in the slides and in lecture discussion. Some of the textbook material will not be covered in class in the slides or discussion and must be discovered outside of class mention.
