ACE Mentor Personal Statement
The ACE Mentors program has been extremely influential on me. When I first joined, I was unsure of the direction I would take after graduating, therefore I joined to cement my future plans. Starting out, I was nervous and had no knowledge outside of what I had learned in my classes. However, with time, I’m becoming more confident in speaking, to the point where I’ve lead discussions. Additionally, what I’ve been learning from the mentors is invaluable; everything from making sure I choose an accredited college to advice on presenting is helping to make me grow into a person that will make an impact on the world. Although we don’t meet frequently, what we learn makes up in quality what it lacks in quantity. All our meetings, without exception, start off with a safety moment before diving into our lesson for the day. We get the rare opportunity to learn from …show more content…
I get to apply all I have learned for something that could benefit society. Not only that, It’s also incredibly enjoyable to research and organize it. That is why I want to pursue a career in civil engineering, I want to be able make as much of an impression on the world as ACE has made on me. For this reason, my plan is to attend NSCC,majoring in civil, before transferring to TSU for my bachelor's. I plan on funding this through FAFSA and other financial aid. Eventually after graduation, I plan to join the workforce straight away and rejoin ACE as a mentor. If I receive the scholarship, it would greatly clear my time to use for studying instead. In conclusion, I hope to use the scholarship to fund my education and become a civil engineer. I aspire to give back to society along with bettering the infrastructure. The knowledge I’ve learned from ACE with also help prepare me for my career by giving my a head start ahead of my peers. Finally, I want to become a mentor and help the next generation just as much as ACE has helped

This award from the KPMG Future Leaders Program will help me achieve my goals not only by supplying me with financial assistance to pay for college but also by allowing me to interact with strong, success women who have experience and insight into a male-driven field. It is seldom that a young woman like myself has the opportunity to further their knowledge of business and communications, and gets to learn that information from strong female leaders. My goals and aspirations stretch far beyond my current skills, and I hope that an award from the KPMG Future Leaders Program will allow me to grow the skills I need to continue on to be a leader to those around me. Going into my freshman year of college with a mentor counseling and teaching me the skill sets required to succeed in my field and to prosper at NYU next year, would be an extraordinary privilege and honor. Woman have always been major contributors to society, despite being shoved down and oppressed on too many occasions and in too many ways. It has always amazed me that despite being oppressed, women have always remained true to their strength and have paved the way for other intellectual, career driven women to prosper in the modern…

I came to ATA because I’m in the Connect program and to take the fire rescue course here at the ATA. I choose fire rescue because I like to help people out in situations that they are facing in their life. Also, at the ATA, we do a lot of hands-on and verbal materials in the fire rescue course and pass all of the certifications to become a firefighter. My other goal is to go to Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) for my Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). In a few years after I get my EMT I will go back to HGTC for my Paramedic License and get paid to do this type of work every time I’m on shift. Analyzing as a firefighter has revealed that it suits my Introvert, iNtuition, Thinking, Judging (INTJ) personality. My Visual learning style, and my skills are doing hands-on materials. However, A will have to improve a little bit more communication to others in my field to be…

Life can be a treacherous journey that even the toughest people have trouble making it through. No one, not even the greatest superheros can get through it alone. We all need some sort of mentor. Someone like Mr. Miyagi was to Karate Kid and Athena was to Odysseus. I am no different, a mentor’s job is to lead and guide you through whatever life throws your way. My mentor has done that and much more. Normally it seems most mentors either come from different ethnicities or cultural backgrounds but, not in this case. Me and my mentor share a ton of the same characteristics and traits. Although he is older and much more wiser, we are still close enough in age to experience and enjoy some of the same cultural activities. One of them being checking…

I was accepted as a peer mentor for Purdue's Disability Center Peer Mentor Program. I mentor a freshman student at Purdue to help the student find the resources that they need, and to navigate campus life. I am now a part of the Program Development Committee for this program as well, in which I work with the faculty leader to come up with ways to improve the program and create awareness on campus about the mentor program. To create more awareness, I created a flyer that will be displayed beginning in January about the program and who to contact for more…
