A Wrinkle In Time Analysis
A Wrinkle in Time
Madeleine L'Engle
Element of Change
In A Wrinkle in Time, Meg’s level of self-control changes significantly. Before the change, Meg’s self-control was very low as she would punch people at the smallest taunt. For example, Meg attacked a boy at her school for insulting her brother. In fact, she would let all her common sense escape her mind, and she would just use her instincts. After the change, she would keep her anger to herself, though she would still feel it. For instance, when she felt anger towards her dad for not allowing her to save her brother, she did not act on her feelings. Instead, she gathered support from Aunt Beast, Mrs.Who, Mrs.Which, Mrs.Whatsit.
How the Change Occurs
The change occurs slightly when she is told by Mrs.Whatsit that her faults will come in handy when on Camazotz. She realizes that her faults are her anger, impatience, and stubbornness. Meg starts to become aware her lack of self-control which leads to the next and final change.
Later, she slightly gains control when something precious is at stake. She had arrived at

If she had lost all her anger and stubbornness, she would not have defeated the IT because as long as she stayed angry at it, she would not be taken over. On the other hand, if she had kept all her anger, she would have lost all her common sense, and wouldn’t have got the upper hand from IT. For instance, when in a disagreement, you should not let your opinion or anger get in your way. Also, you should never do or say something you will regret saying later. “With the last vestige of consciousness she jerked her mind and body”. This shows that she was able to calm down for a second and think. To sum it up, do not act rashly because of your
