Persuasive speeches have been the most challenging speeches in this class for me. The goal is to influence the belief of an audience, convincing them to choose a side. The first persuasive speech I done I was nervous for some odd reason. When it comes to informative speeches I can talk a lot, but it’s different with persuasive speeches. Speech 3 was the longest persuasive speech being four to six minutes and it seemed to be the longest. With persuasive speeches, you want to provide the audience with enough information so they’ll be able to choose a side, most likely the side you’re arguing for.…

Interpersonal persuasion is how someone can receive compliance from another person. A few persuasion techniques that people tend to use are: foot-in-the-door, door-in-the-face, social exchange, and low-balling are among some. Most people at one time or another have encountered one of these examples. The method I am going to reflect on could be an example of both the foot-in-the-door technique and low-balling. With the assistance of the Homeland Security team, they played tag team with the interrogation process to see if they could break down the suspect. Both sides of the interrogator teams relied heavily on persuasion tactics. I believe that authority can be used very well in school and the workforce as one continues to gain experience and knowledge. As I continue to gain experience with programming I can network with my peers, gaining references I can use whenever I or someone else is in need of work. As presented to us in the video Science of Persuasion by Cialdini, D, and Martin, S customer confidence is boosted when having a friend or assistant present credentials, accomplishments, or experience prior to speaking to them. This could be incredibly useful since I could create connections now in a learning environment and if someone has a problem I could be referenced to help connecting with another element of persuasion reciprocity.…
