Wild ties and blouses were a big trend and almost became the mod look for most women. “Pants were probably the biggest fashion revolution of the decade for women”(Fashion in the 1960s: Overview). The trends for teens were mostly miniskirts, and bright dresses and printed stockings. Printed tights were introduced years before the 1960s but were never accepted until miniskirts made their way up. Once miniskirts became popular so did the look of the striped or polka dotted tights as a way to still cover the more exposed leg and have the pop for attention. Another thing the rise of miniskirts influenced were the higher hemlines, which began the trend of showing a little more skin as well. This trend also influenced some of our styles today like: Daisy Dukes, schoolgirl skirts, and cut-off denim. Also “Women were largely emancipated from the requirement that they wear skirts”(Fashion in the 1960s: Overview) because of the new trend of pants. Fashion represented how you felt, what you did, and where you lived. The way fashion represented these aspects of your life was through how certain styles and prints were only affordable to the wealthy and how some styles where only in certain towns/states. So if you were one who wore something no ones ever seen you were right away known to not live or belong to that
