The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald captures the disparity between the poor and wealthy in New York City in the Nineteen-Twenties. In this novel there are many images that help to pull the story together. Three of those images I feel are very significant to the story. The single green light on Daisy’s dock that Gatsby spends countless nights staring at across the lake is‚ in my opinion‚ the most significant image in the book. The light represents Gatsby’s unattainable dream to be with Daisy

In Striblens English class we have been reading the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and‚ for a project‚ we had to draw a unique cover for the book and use one of the many symbols from the book. There were many symbols like The eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg‚ The valley of Ashes‚ so yeah‚ We were given many symbols‚ but I have chosen to draw two of those symbols on my cover: the green light and the uncut books in Jay Gatsby’s house. beginning of the book‚ even before Nick meets Gatsby he views Gatsby as a wealthy man who always throws parties. Then after they meet each other‚ Nick still views him as a busy wealthy man. The Green Light The green light at the end of Daisy’s dock is a significant symbol within the book. To Gatsby‚ the green light represents his dream‚ which is Daisy. To attain her would be completing Gatsby’s American Dream. The first time the green light is seen in the novel is also the first time Nick sees Gatsby. My Green Light My green light is an ambiguous entity‚ consisting of multiple forms‚ each day varying from the next. This ever-changing pattern in my life is possibly a result of a void left behind from my childhood‚ as my parents had never encouraged or raised any desire to strive for a goal in me. As such I now have an inability to create a permanent goal for myself. My green light‚ in short‚ lacks conviction - it is deprived of the motivation required to maintain my interest‚ and eventually

The drawing I made about the Great Gatsby is about how Gatsby’s dream with the green light. The green light is his dream to become wealthy successful. He also includes that everyone has a greenlight. That green light is how Daisy and him went out and how they got back together 5 years later. Another thing is that gatsby’s way of the green light means that you have to be born into wealth or brought into it. That means that you have to do whatever you can to make a lot of money until you say that

Fitzgerald utilizes the symbol of the green light to represent Gatsby’s hopes and dreams in order to demonstrate Gatsby’s character development. The mysterious Jay Gatsby is describing to his long lost lover Daisy that she “always has a green light that burns all night at the end of her dock” (Fitzgerald 92). Daisy’s house is right across Gatsbys; he points out the green light on her dock. Before Gatsby mentions the green light‚ he notices a change in the weather: “If it wasn’t for the mist” usually
