Sonnet 138 Sonnet 138 is a sonnet written by William Shakespeare in 1599. There is only record of Shakespeare writing 154 sonnets in his lifetime. Lines one through twelve are written in ABAB rhyme scheme and the rhyme scheme changes in lines thirteen and fourteen where it is GG. The whole thing is in iambic pentameter.
