Conclusion: The purpose of this lab was to synthesize and purify aspirin. The theoretical yield was calculated to 3.766g. The actual yield of pure aspirin was 2.863g with a yield of 76%. The percent yield indicates that our synthesis was a success but the yield is low and indicates that some of the aspirin was lost during synthesis. Some reasons for loss can result from human error such as loosing product from sticking on the spatula and the Buchner funnel and several weighings. Also‚ when transferring

respective stoichiometric coefficients that must be determined experimentally. The primary goal essentially for this experiment is to determine the k value or rate constant along with the x and y stoichiometric coefficients given the concentrations of Crystal Violet and Hydroxide. This can be obtained using a spectrophotometer to determine rate of absorbance then graph the rate find a line of best fit‚ determine our rate constant‚ then finally solve for our x and y in the rate law equation. Melissa Benning Introduction The purpose of the coordination complex lab is to determine the absorbance spectra of complexes based on their color. Every complex has its own color which results from the wavelengths of white light it reflects. The complexes will be compared by the color each reflects and by the energy of the waves each absorbs. The purity of the synthesized complex will also be found. Procedure Part I: Preparation of the Complex A sample of copper sulfate pentahydrate (6.285g)

Paragraph 1 - Compare and contrast the crystal structures and crystal chemistry of quartz‚ α-FePO4 and β-FePO4. Both α-FePO4 (space group: P3121) and α-quartz (space group: P3121 and P3221) belong to the trigonal crystal system‚ while β- FePO4 (space group: P6422) and β-quartz (space group: P6222 and P6422) belong to the hexagonal crystal system. At relatively low temperature‚ FePO4 is tetrahedral in structure. This is similar to the tetrahedral structure of quartz. As temperature increases‚ the

A formal report is a methodical presentation of a subject or an action which includes summaries of important points as well as appendices of tangential and secondary points. In simple words‚ a formal report is used to formally document the outcomes of an experiment‚ a design or an information which can provide the readers a clear understanding of why and how the experiment or action is done and what it concludes. Apart from readers understanding‚ a formal report is also prepared in order to record

Formal‚ Non-formal and Informal Learning: What Are the Differences? Earlier this year I did some applied research on the differences between formal‚ non-formal and informal education in both the sciences‚ as well as literacy and language education. These terms have been used by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) as well as researchers and practitioners around the globe. Here’s a simplified explanation: Formal education – Organized‚ guided by a formal curriculum‚ leads
