Compassion fatigue is an occupational hazard in nursing and has been found to have an influence on job satisfaction. Despite decades of research‚ compassion fatigue continues to be an area of concern in health care because of its detrimental effects. This study was conducted to (a) examine the contributing factors associated with compassion fatigue among acute care nurses in hospital-based settings and (b) determine acute care nurse’s compassion satisfaction in an effort to lower staff turnover.
