What causes the changes in supply and demand in the simulation? An increase in population due to Lintech’s arrival caused an increase in income causing an increase in demand for detached homes which was the substitute to the two-bedroom apartments therefore causing the demand for those to decrease. With the decrease in demand for the two-bedroom apartments, supply also decreased since they decided to take a good chunk of them and convert them into condominiums and selling them. When the government imposed rental control/price-ceiling the demand increased causing a shortage.
How do shifts in supply and demand affect your decision making? When there was an increase in demand due to an increase in population, I defianetly knew that people would pay more than what the current monthly rent was so that helped me to decide on the rent increase.
List four key points from the reading assignments that were emphasized in the simulation. a. Law of supply and demand: Demand, the higher the price of a good the less amount consumers will demand and vice versa. This causes a downward slope on the demand curve. Supply, reveals the quantities that will be sold at a certain price, the higher the price the more quantity is supplied, causing an upward slope on the supply curve. b. Equilibrium concept: This occurs when the supply and demand for a good is equal. c. Movements in the supply and demand curves: Movements occur when a change in the quantity demanded/quantity supplied is only caused by a change in price. d. Shifts: Shifts occur when the quantity demanded/quantity supplied is caused by a factor other than price. Such things as income increase and preferences.
How can you apply what you learned about the concepts of supply and demand from the simulation to your workplace? I work in the housing department and it’s by job to find temporary housing for our

It has been two years and Good Life now manages 3000 two bedroom apartments and we were able to correctly identify the impact of increased population on the demand for two bedroom apartments on temporary, month – to – month lease. We were not able to identify the impact of the supply of these apartments correctly. An increase in population increases the demand for rented apartments, but does not affect the supply of these apartments. At any given rental rate, more people demand rented apartments. This results in an increase in demand. Thus, the demand curve shifts to the right. The increase in demand means that quantity demanded is more than quantity supplied at the original…

The government decided to take control of the situation by putting a ceiling of $1550 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment in order for middle class families to be able to afford to live within the city that they work in which is another example of macroeconomics. Because of the ceiling being put on the rental properties it caused the rental company to only rent a portion of their apartments so that they would be able to make some sort of profit because of the cost of maintenance.…

When there was a surplus, I was able to tell if the company needed to lower the rent to decrease the supply or raise the rent if there was an increase in demand. When there is a change in supply, the decision to lower rent but maximize revenue was a tough one. The company still wants to profit from the rental homes but because the demand is low the company has to find a way to increase the demand from the people. When the change in demand increased due to new job opportunities for people, there is opportunity to increase the rental price because the company knows that the demand is there and there is no competition.…

When buyers and sellers agree on a price, market equilibrium price, and quantity are achieved. Market equilibrium price and quantity rise and fall based on changes to supply and demand such as taxes and subsidies, prices of other goods, consumer preferences, number of buyers in the market, and consumer expectations” (McConnell, Brue, & Flynn, 2009, p. 48-52). These external forces cause a shift in supply and demand as demonstrated in Appendix A.…

The analysis will identify two microeconomics and two macroeconomics principles or concepts from the simulation, and explain why each principle or concept is in the category of macroeconomics or microeconomics. The analysis will identify at least one shift of the supply curve, and one shift of the demand curve from the simulation and what causes the shifts. The analysis will show for each shift, how it would affect the equilibrium price, quantity, and decision making. It will detail application to learned material about supply and demand from the simulation to workplace or real-world product. It will detail how concepts of microeconomics help understand the factors that affect shifts in supply and demand on the equilibrium price and quantity, and it will also detail how concepts of macroeconomics help understand the factors that affect shifts in supply and demand on the equilibrium price and quantity. The analysis will explain how the price elasticity of demand affects a consumer’s purchasing and the firm’s pricing strategy in relation to the simulation.…

During week one, we discuss the difference between supply and demand and the affects that it has on prices and quantity. Example of shifts in demand would be taxes, expectations, income, and other goods. Examples of a shift in supply would be price inputs and technology. I believe that I am comfortable with supply and demand; however, I struggle with the graphs and the visuals of the shift. By taking macroeconomics before this class, in ways has prepared me to have a better understanding of microeconomics and how the economy is studied.…

The law of demand states that there is a direct relationship between the price of a good and a demand for it. Usually the quantity demand of a good varies inversely with its price. For example, people generally buy more of a good when the price is low and buy less of it when the price is high. Ceteris Paribus can be defined as "all things being equal or constant". When there is a change in demand relation to price changes or other factors of demand, all other factors that influence demand are held constant. The purpose of a demand curve is to show the inverse relationship in quantity demand and price.…
