Ram and Hard Drive Disk Essay Example
Over the past 30 years the change in RAM will shock you. In 1955 to let’s say the 1970’s prices ranged anywhere from two hundred dollars to nine hundred dollars. Years past 51 to be exact, hard drives reached 1TB. This took place in 2007. But, in 2009 two years later the first hard drive with 2 TB was made. Being that it only took two years for this versus the 51 it took to make the first one companies brainstormed on how to make this better.

Hard drives have also changed tremendously. One major change of the hard drive a be the size.Say for instance in the fifty’s hard drive could only hold up to five MB’s of data. But fortyyears later it was able to hold 40MB. There was even one that could hold 100MB. Now in
2013 you can GB seven cents per gig for a bigger storage space. In today’s time we have usb devicesthat carries all sizes of GB versus how it use to be back when they first came about.

During this 30 year hiatus of hard drive and RAM our technology has improved alot. Ten years from now i believe you could possibly purchase more than 1000MB of RAM and Hard drive capacity for one hundred bucks. With my research i also come to the conclusion that over the next thirty years these numbers will change tremendously. The computer itself changes alot so I know that the RAM and hard drive capacity will as well.
So you see with all the different RAM and hard drives that's available it changed over the years. From the 80s til now hard drives switched from being 8 inches to 3.5 inches now to 1.8. Amazing isn't it, I believe so as well. Then the RAM has changed so much we have large amounts of it on something small as a USB drive. These things keep me looking forward to how drastically things a change in the

The evolution of the Ethernet standards will have a large effect on data storage requirements. As the speeds of these connections continue to increase, users and businesses will be able to transfer larger files faster and will required larger data storage to accommodate the increased demand of resources. Thirty years ago, when the standard was only 10MB, there was nowhere near the need for the data storage capacity as there is today, with the current standard being 100 Gbit, with 1 Tbit on the way. Data storage wasn’t as high in demand before because it would take an extremely long amount of time to transfer large files, but as the speed increases, so will the demand.…

The price per megabyte of disk storage has gone done 40% per year from 1980-1995. Seagate believes that in order to stay competitive they must aggressively enhance product offerings and reduce prices. They also believe that in addition to that, they need to provide timely introductions and reduce production costs. However, the surging global demand in this industry is causing some facilities to run at full capacity very frequently, so Seagate needs to tailor its manufacturing strategy for these new products they’re trying to introduce to be based on high-volume and low-cost assembly and test. They are committed to lowering manufacturing costs and increasing volume production, and this is especially important given the short product life cycle in this industry. Given the projected future demand of their newest Cheetah and Barracuda models they need to decide how to structure the assembly and test facilities for each, expecting 300,000 units of each in demand in about a year, but that comes with high demand uncertainty.…

Ans: Coming to the Management team they always look at other companies’ production and move their company forward. They always compare the other companies in these cases. There is no profit even in the case of huge investments. Even if other companies goes with the old technology we should follow the demand of the market. If this strategy is going to be considered by the company in the timely manner they can grab the complete market and in result demand and profits also increases. This is the strong reason to manufacture the 1.8” drive than the 2.5” drives by observing the other companies what they are doing.…
