Project Management Audit Summary
Project Audit Summary
CTC

CTC has been contracted to build a 7/8 scale model of the Ansari X Gauchito Rocket. The scale model will be used to test functionality of the rocket without incurring costs of building a full size rocket. The project plan has been constructed detailing each phase of the project as well as all practiced used to implement. This Audit will be used to summarize the best practices being implemented as well as areas that need to be improved. The Audit will serve as a tool to help the project team be more efficient in addition to the actual audit.
The project plan was very well defined and each section of the project plan is clear and concise paying particular attention to detail. Each Phase of the project is completely broken down step by step in the WBS and the key personnel for each phase is listed. The cost analysis is sound and extremely detailed. This allows the key shareholders to closely follow the budget and still have the project meet their needs. Personnel needs are clearly defined with specific job requirements as well as outside staffing needs. The communications plan is detail oriented and ensures that lines of communication are open for the duration of the project
While this plan is extremely detailed and well thought out there are a few areas of concern. While there is no scheduling tool since the WBS is used to implement the schedule of deliverables there should be a section covering the severity of potential scheduling impacts. While most scheduling concerns are accounted for in the original timeline of the project potential impacts should still be quantified so the shareholders can be aware of potential scenarios. While the communications plan was very detailed in the form of communication it did not specify who would receive the communications. It is important for the project team to know who they are to communicate to. This will decrease confusing when communication does occur and will save time and prevent

    Woody 2000 Project

In this essay I am asked to review and assess the case study of the Woody 2000 project. The concept of the project was simple enough, expand the workspace in order to increase productivity and remain competitive within the surrounding area without having to move to a different location. The initial project, I feel was not well conceived at all. I feel that the time spent actually planning out who’s, where’s and why’s would have benefited the company’s efforts and efficiency dramatically. What I mean by this is simple; the planning portion of this project should have been broken down into about eight phases. First, give the project overview which is merely a brief synopsis of why we are doing what we are doing and how it will benefit our company. Second, create project objectives which would state milestones and clearly define what we hope to achieve. Third, give our scope or view of things and department areas that will change. During this phase the Woody 2000 project should have easily seen that the renovation of the President and Executive Vice President's offices was a bad idea, but I will discuss more on my reason for this later. Fourth, a project risk assessment which would identify potential issues and discussion of mitigating factors to stay on track. Fifth, approach which is simply how everything will flow and unfold as we progress. Sixth, Organization as far as identifying key role players within the organization that would be solely responsible and held accountable for any short comings. Seventh, a signature page or project counseling showing understanding of responsibilities among all key personnel involved. Lastly, eighth would be cost and duration estimates that are merely a best guess, but realistic and flexible to give optimum understanding of projected gains and losses. Did the Woody 2000 project take time to implement these previously stated phases in planning? Some, but not all and this is critical in depicting the down fall in…
