Profit planning
Congratulations, you are now in charge of a $100,000,000 corporation. Your company manufactures sensors. Sensors are devices that observe physical conditions. Your sensors are installed into the products your customers sell. Sensors are everywhere. Almost any product that has an automated function requires some sort of sensor.
Your company was created when the government split a monopoly into identical competitors. When the company was a monopoly, operating inefficiencies and poor product offerings were not addressed because customers had no other choices.
Competition in the post-monopoly era means you can no longer ignore these issues. If you do, competitors with better products, lower prices or both, will leave you in the dust.
The tools you need to stay ahead of the completion are located in the Getting
Started, the Decisions, and the Reports areas.
The Industry Conditions Report describes in detail the business environment specific to your simulation including descriptions of what your customers want. You and your competitors have access to an industry newspaper called the
Capstone Courier. The Courier is a complete year-end report on the sensor industry including customer buying patterns, product positioning, manufacturing capacity and public financial information.
The Annual Reports offer expanded information that is available only to your company. There are three reports: A balance sheet, a cash flow statement and an income statement.
You will use the Capstone Spreadsheet to enter departmental decisions. The spreadsheet is available in two versions: Web and Excel.
You access company departments from the Decisions menu. You have four main departments: Research & Development or R&D (where you revise and invent products), Marketing (where you price your products, establish sales and promo budgets and enter forecasts), Production (where you schedule manufacturing runs), and Finance (where you ensure your company has the funds it

There is no commonly accepted definition or approach to marketing planning. This is because of a number of problems that pepper the marketing planning literature relating to the size of an organization, the market or sector in which it exists, its culture, and the human beings that work within it. There is a huge body of research that has considered marketing planning and its models, structures and processes, theory and typologies. The only one thing that is certain is that, after considering the findings of a number of studies and as the output of many informed views, there is no common agreement on a single definition or approach to marketing planning.…

Parents have long pursued what they consider the best education for their child(ren). However, horrific events like the April 1999 school shooting massacre at Columbine High School near Denver, Colorado or more recently, the March 2009 Albertville Technical High School shooting in Winnenden, Germany, which left several children dead, has prompted more and more parents to seek private, parochial, or Christian school alternatives. While these schools experience their share of problems, the way administration is able to deal with them is not encumbered by governmental constraints. These specialized schools strive to provide a unique and superior service through academic excellence, while fostering an environment of safety. This philosophy provides the type of service most parents are looking for.…
