Personal Statement

I believe that nursing is a very challenging and demanding career, however I feel the rewards would be great and that I am ready to embark on this career. I am eager to pursue a career in which I am able to help and care for people, becoming a nurse would allow me to fulfill this ambition. Nursing is a career for dedicated, reliable, trusting people who are able to develop relationships with patients quickly. I have these skills and I genuinely want to make a difference to people, to assist them and their families through difficult times when they are at their most vulnerable. The role of nursing is changing as nurses are far more involved in the welfare of patients and this is placing more responsibility on nurses. I am confident of embracing this challenge and to take advantage of these changes and opportunities and use them to further my career. My clinical experiences have prepared me for a future in nursing. These experiences and skills include, but are not limited to: vital signs and data collection, medicine administration (including accuchecks and insulin injections), Foley catheter insertions, G-tube feedings, oxygen therapy, personal hygiene care and assist with ADL’s, and written and computerized documentation/charting. These clinical experiences have given me the confidence to believe I will be able to make quick and rational decisions. I believe I have sound judgment and can remain calm and sensible at all times to ensure the highest quality of care to my patients. I work well with others, and respect the fact that patients deserve the best care possible from all members of the nursing staff interacting and working
