In the article Beware of Data is went over the Uniform Crime Report and it explained it included four types of Violent crimes, these crimes were murder/nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault, and three types of property crime such as burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft. The Uniform crime report does include arson but that is on a very limited basis. This data base is very impressive with how it collect and records these crimes but at the same time like any data base it does have its flaws. These flaws are that the actual crime levels are not accurate due to not all of the crimes committed are called into police agencies to have reports filed, some of these crimes can be Rape and assaults since victims could know the suspect and they fear retribution from the suspect. To redress the weaknesses in the reports the Bureau of Justice created another data base called the National Crime Victimization Survey. This data base surveys individuals as well as households around the country asking if they have been victims of crimes over the last 6 months and if they had it collects information on what happened. This data base shows that the crime rates are a lot higher than the Uniform Crime report especially for violent crimes. This was a brief summary of what this article was going over.…

In their opinion, Hamlet has sufficiently grieved for his father’s death already. Prior to the soliloquy, the King Claudius and Queen Gertrude makes announcement to their marriage, as according to them, the court could not afford excessive grief, which further saddens Hamlet.…

There are three reasons I am optimistic about my future; My military career, my family life, and my faith. My military career has allowed me the ability to become a great leader. I am a non commissioned officer with 12 years of service and one deployment to Iraq. My family life has always been by my side when ever I have been in need about my future goals. My family has always pushed me with words of encouragement in my attempts to get a degree in education. Lastly, my faith in God has always allowed me to look towards the cross when ever I have had hardships. When my father in law was diagnosed with cancer, it was my faith that kept me looking to the positives of the future.…

In our daily lives we often compare and contrast two or more items. We might compare and contrast family members, TV shows, or favorite bands. The comparison and contrast pattern of organization is also common in many college textbooks. It is used to discuss ways in which two or more items are the same and how they differ.Signal WordsExample #1Here’s a short reading that demonstrates the compare and contrast pattern. Notice the comparison words in italics and the contrast words in bold.My family consists of four siblings, my two sisters, my brother, and I. Growing up, we didn’t always get along, but today, my sisters are my best friends. Both sisters are loyal to a fault, dedicated workers, and extroverted. If either of us ever has problems, we know we can rely on each other. I once broke down in the middle of the night hundreds of miles from home. I called first one and then the other sister. They not only returned my call, but they rode together to help me get home. This caring behavior also extends to their work. Although they work in different fields, they are similarly loyal to the companies for whom they work at a time when many people hop from one job to the next. My sister Trudy has been in banking at the same firm for over 10 years. In contrast, my younger sister, Terri, works in health care. Still, she has been with the same company for over 20 years. Both sisters are friendly and they are magnets for new people. The youngest prefers small parties at low key work events, unlike my sister Trudy, who throws large parties and coordinates elegant dinner parties and events.Because we are familiar with comparing and contrasting people and items in our daily lives, we can recognize this brief paragraph as a comparison/contrast between two people. What are their similarities?Comparison signal words from this passage include: both, also, similarly, and still. The two sisters are compared because they…

    1. Dual processuality is the ability of users to create their own personal accounts but can also look at other users profile as well. In other words, Mejia is saying that social networks can be used in the users favor as well as the user’s friend’s favor. For example, people create their own personal Facebook account to show others their lifestyle while at the same time keeping touch with their friends and family by viewing other people’s profiles and commenting on it. Another example is Instagram where people can post pictures of their everyday lives. At the same time, their newsfeed would be filled with other people’s everyday lives. This explains how social media work in both ways (or “dual” ways) by letting the user be aware of other peoples life as well as other people being aware of the users life.…
