Assignment #1 Reading Prehistoric Symbols: “The Language of the Goddess”
Scene of Ovcharovo This is a cult scene from Ovcharovo. In the middle of the picture, there has 3 women stood and put their hands up, I assumed they are three priestesses. The tallest woman may be the main one. She was powerful and with great shaped body. In front of them, there has three tables, all of the tables had bowls and dish on it. It probably has foods and fruits inside, for sacrifice to God and Goddess. In the back of those three women, there has three stone sculptures, all of them has nice and symbolic paintings on it. The middle of the stone sculpture, it is a sun’s symbol on it. For the right one, it is a symbol of moon, and the shape likes five-pointed star, those related the night. Other side, it is probably symbols water or nature element that I did not one hundred percent sure about. It look likes the shape of river. Beside the priestesses, there has two big sacrificial altars, the left one has religious picture in the bottom, it is may be relate with God and Goddess. In front of the three women, there also has five chairs, it may be the sitting for honorable people, such likes the leader and master. I guess the normal people will be stand behind the chairs during the sacrificing. On the right side of the chairs, there three cylinders, those might be the musical instruments. During the sacrificing, the music player ( the fourth woman in the picture) will play them and diminished the feelings of fear and anxiety. Personalty, I created a story for this picture. When the sacrificing started, the main priestess dressed in traditional splendid costumes, and leaded her two female assistants stood in the middle of the ancient people, they put their hands up to convey their regards of God and Goddess. They prepared and served foods in the bowls to God and Goddess. When the music player plays the instruments, all of the ancient
