As my 1st math class for elementary teachers is ending its time to reflect on all ive learned these last 9 weeks. We focused on many math topics such as algebraic thinking, problem solving, number theory, rational numbers and applications. Many vocabulary concepts and symbols were memorized in these weeks. Of all these topics the most important concept I learned in this class was number theory and set notation. The most difficult skills for me throughout the class were anything involving fractions. All of these concepts learned throughout the 9 weeks are relevant to the characteristics of a professional math teacher. This course has helped me develop my own understandings and ideas to bring fourth to my own class. Of all of the concepts and topics taught in this class I felt that number theory and set notation was the most important. One reason for this is because this was completely new to me. I don’t remember learning this in school or maybe I didn’t learn it. It’s important for me to grasp the concept because I will need to teach this to my students The second reason is number theory and set notation have a lot of vocabulary and a lot of subtopics to grasp, which are all very important. A “set” is a collection of items, which are also called elements. The elements do not have to be numbers. A= {apple, juice, sandwich, chips}. This set describes what I had for lunch today. As you can see each set is named by an uppercase letter such as A. Sets can be placed in Venn diagrams, and can even get more complicated (Set notation,2010). The most difficult skill for me throughout this class was Rational numbers as fractions. I have always had a hard time with fractions in all my math classes especially if the denominator is different. I’m so glad I got to review these skills because it will only make me stronger in this area. There are many models to help students see the actual fraction. An

In my opinion, it is very challenging job to find a balance between providing adequate pain medications for suitable candidates and preventing these medications from being misused and abused. Providing care with a holistic approach will allow an FNP the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with their patients. As a result, they can easily monitor patients' use of opioids over time and frequently assess patients' conditions to determine the need for continuing pain medication. Even more important is the need to educate patients about the benefit and the risk when using opioids as well as how to properly discard unused medication. Last but not least, an NP should keep up with current research for alternative pain management such as…

The policy that I chose is R-5122. The policy explains the steps on how an educator is to communicate the progress on students. In other words, it breaks down the grades and how the educator is to convey what the grades mean to the caretakers. R-5122 states that caretakers are to be informed on their child’s grades every 18 weeks if the child is in elementary and quarterly from grades 6-12. In the policy is recommended that at least one care taker is present during the parent-teacher conference from the beginning of the year. Additionally, R-5122 suggests that caretakers are to refer to the county’s portal to stay up-to-date on their child’s progress. Moreover, the policy suggests that educators are to keep records of those encounters with the caretakers.…

During my fourteen years working as an educator in the Houston area, I have always taught in Title 1 schools. It is generally acknowledged that Title I schools host a great number of struggling and ELL students. Most of these children lack the basic means to succeed in school, due to either insufficient economic resources or limited English Language skills. The majority of newcomers from foreign countries struggle to adapt to the new environment as well as the new language. Since their economic status is low, they often settle in city areas where the poverty level is very high. Oftentimes, Title I students belong in single parent families or households where both parents work an elevated number of hours in order to be able to support their offspring. As a consequence, many older children take the role of parents, caring for the younger ones. In other cases, the absence of both parents for long hours facilitates student absences and…
