Assessment Type: A group type-written assignment

Assignment Question:

Explain at length the doctrine of separate legal entity. Identify another jurisdiction that has applied this doctrine (other than the United Kingdom) and support your choice with the relevant case-law from that country.

Assessment Requirements:

The submission of your work for assessment should be organised and clearly structured in a report format as outlined below:

1.0 Introduction (10 marks)
2.0 Discussion and Analysis (70 marks)
3.0 Conclusion (10 marks)
4.0 References (10 marks)

This assignment is worth 40% of the final assessment of the module.

Maximum word length allowed is 2000 words. The word count excludes Section 4.0 above.

The required content of the document produced by each student is required to be within specific maximum word lengths (in brackets) and to cover the specific areas as follows:

1. An introduction – identifying the main crux of the assignment and explanation. (200 words maximum/10 marks)
2. Setting out the doctrine (500 words maximum/15 marks)
3. Identification of 1 other jurisdiction and the law in that particular jurisdiction that is similar to the company law of the UK. (800 words/30 marks)
4. Identification of cases, discussion, analysis of the decisions and mapping of the UK case law to the discussion. (900 words maximum/35 marks)
5. Conclusion. (100 words maximum/10 marks)
