1. Parallel – position where feet and legs face forward
2. Passe - movement in which the working leg passes the supporting leg, sliding close to the knee.
3. Demi Plie -A basic step in ballet; a smooth, slightly and graceful bending of the knees
4. Grande Plie -A basic step in ballet; a smooth, graceful bending of the knees; almost in seated position.
5. Releve -In ballet, a rising with a spring movement to point or demi-point
6. Flatback –stretch position in which the spine is parallel to the floor. The abdominals should be tightly contracted to help keep the weight centered over the feet, as well as to support the spine. The body should be in a 90 degree or upside down L shape..
7. The Fan kick - High, straight leg kick where the extended leg makes a circular sweep
8. Body Isolation -A movement separating one part of the body from other parts, taking a part of the body and placing it out of its natural position.
9. The Kick-Ball Change -A move that consists of a change of weight between both feet. Body weight is transferred on the ball of one foot (usually placed behind), followed by a step on the other foot. Kick foot out on Count 1, quickly change weight to opposite foot on & Count, followed by a quick weight change back to starting foot on Count 2.
10. The Lateral - the dancer stands with head and spine in alignment, the supporting foot turned out. The arm over the supporting leg comes straight up next to the ear as the torso tilts, unbroken to the side, over the supporting leg. The opposite leg lifts pointed through the toes. The other arm swings up as the leg rises and parallels the straight arm next to the head. The body continues to tilt sideways from the pelvis in one unbroken line. A Lateral T shows the line of the torso and extended leg at a right angle to the supporting leg. A Low Lateral tilts the torso downward and the extended leg up in the air.

    When trying to describe Cole's movement, it is best to identify certain predominate characteristics. A partial list would include dancing in plie; with isolated body movements; with compressed or stored energy; and with a keen sense of manipulating rhythm, spatial levels, and attack. The first item of dancing in plie is a key to the Cole style. Cole made great use of a wide and low second position, as well as a parallel fourth position with both knees bent and the back knee close to the floor. This wide stance dropped the dancer's centre of gravity, and allowed the dancer to extend movement horizontally across the floor. This contrasted with the ballet dancer's vertical orientation.
