Course Description:
Objectives
This course is designed for students who completed JAPA2110 or equivalent. In this course, students are expected to further develop Japanese language skills and knowledge which were acquired in previous courses, and utilize them more effectively so that students can express their ideas and thoughts more freely and clearly. Students will learn some more basic and complex sentences which are bit more challenging and will learn how to use them appropriately in given social contexts. Additionally, students are required to develop solid reading and writing skills. Although writing Kanji will not be as large of a focus as in previous courses, learning to read more Kanji will be emphasized.
SPEAKING: Engage in expressing concrete and abstract topics through conversation, using complex sentences and performing tasks like rephrasing; be understood without difficulty by speakers unaccustomed to non-native speakers; use paragraph discourse on factual topics in both informal and formal settings.
LISTENING: Comprehend complex questions and statements on familiar topics with a moderate degree of accuracy.
READING: Understand the main points of the narrative and explanatory reading materials in the textbook and other authentic reading materials provided in class using contextual information (i.e. be able to guess the unknown terms from the context).
WRITING: Write paragraph documents such as narratives,
