Data Collection and Validation
In order to obtain the relevant data for this report, consultations were made with our business units on the financial, social, and operational topics that they deem most relevant to our business as an insurance company. Meanwhile, we engaged the services of SGV & Co. to audit our financial reports for the parent company,
Insular Life, and the consolidated report of the Insular Group of Companies.
Data are validated and processed by our Public Relations Staff. We have developed a basic reporting protocol and defined the requests for specific data in our collection tool to align the understanding of what data are required from our offices.
Reporting Criteria
Our goal is to eventually adopt the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and the
Financial Sector Supplement of the Global Reporting Initiative (www.globalreporting.org).
We will continue to closely track our sustainability performance and lay the groundwork for seeking independent assurance in the near future to be aligned with global best practices on sustainability reporting.
Feedback
We welcome feedback from our stakeholders to improve our reporting process. Please email the Public Relations Staff at mdsantos@insular.com.ph.

The book I read was Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, a book explaining the exciting story of a nineteen year old boy named Chris McCandless. Chris was born into a wealthy family with siblings; Chris later attended Emory where he would already start to isolate himself from others. Isolating himself from others would eventually cause Chris to make a journey he would later regret and not return from. This will show how humans are not meant for isolation and it will not lead into anything helpful and won’t turn out in your favor.…

We have evaluated a published academic paper – “Corporate sustainability: historical development and reporting practices” (by Andreas Christofi, Petros Christofi and Seleshi Sisaye, 2012). The purpose of the paper was to compare the disclosure requirement between the two widely used sustainability reporting instruments - Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI World) and Global Reporting Initiative G3 Guidelines (GRI-G3 Guidelines). These two instruments are similarities in the content but their disclosure requirement are different and the depths of the complexity of sustainability indicators are vary. The authors suggested that sustainability reporting framework needs undergo further standardization and enforcement of the disclosure indicators to avoid any negative impact on investors and consumers in case of corporate failure or mismanagement in the upcoming future.…

The experience of isolation has a profound effect on the psychological health of an individual. The first type of isolation, forced isolation, is the least detrimental because a higher command has ordered the isolation and it cannot be changed. Not fitting into the social landscape or norm, and therefore becoming ostracized leads to social isolation, or the second type of isolation. Lastly, self-inflicted isolation is perhaps the most severe because internal psychological factors contribute to it, making it harder to overcome, and, therefore, the most harmful. In Golding’s Lord of the Flies, Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Huxley’s Brave New World, each of the types of…

A large corporation with securities listed on a stock exchange is required by the rules of the stock exchange and by the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission to provide an audit report with the annual financial statements furnished to its stockholders. Spending life wrapped in a coddle of emotions and experiences I cannot sort through I’ve set out on a journey to explain myself to you. Walking through life while collecting moments I fail to piece together I’ve created a litany of lessons and frustrations I’m attempting to share. None of this should be extraordinary news; I never climbed a mountain ( or completed other like physical feats) to find enlightenment, I’ve failed to create a technology which will save lives, I’m nothing special just a neighborhood twenty year old writing stories for you; nuggets of disdain, snark, discovery, and solitude. Twenty years on a planet is exhausting, I’m still not confident that adults can survive beyond this…

Loneliness has drawn the attention of poets, song writers and philosophers for centuries and has motivated them to write some of their best works. I have sought out loneliness as a topic to study. In fact, at times I would have to admit that loneliness has often worn veils that made it difficult to identify. Tricked into believing that being in the presence of company would cure loneliness, I invested time in to identifying the cause only to see that the personal experiences associated with loneliness seem to vary as much as the people that were bold enough to admit they struggled with this challenge.…

Have you ever felt so distant, so isolated from everything and everyone around you? Isolation can be both physical and emotional. Physical isolation can be defined as antisocial or not socially contacting with people. Emotional isolation comes from the inside of a person. They could have issues going on with themselves or in their lives and they feel as if there is no one to turn to, so they choose to keep to themselves. Isolation is a common theme experienced in “Into The Wild” by the main character, Christopher McCandless.…
