Most students today either have their tuition paid for by their parents or receive grant funding or a loan. What makes her second point successful is that other students can find inspiration in learning that she paid her own way through college. What makes her third claim successful is that many students often take their education for granted because it is not their money being wasted if they fail a class. The weakness in Neal-Richardson’s claim is that she should not hold everyone up to her standard and consider everyone who chooses to accept their parents’ financial assistance as…

As a student, I deeply realize the importance of education. When I was in high school, I witnessed many of my friends not able to join colleges due to their inability to raise the required fees. The amount of money generated at their respective homes was not enough to cater for their basic needs as well as tuition fees. In most schools, there are inadequate educational resources. Due to this limitation regarding resources, the classes are always crowded (Jillson 21). The ratio of teachers to students is high leading to some students not getting enough attention from the teachers. There is a need for smaller classes to improve the student-teacher ratio. This necessitates equipping the schools with the essential tools that are lacking. This can improve the grades scored by the…

Today in America going to college is more of a necessity than an option; however, college is expensive. Most people cannot afford the upfront cost of tuition and fees along with the additional costs of dorms, meals, textbooks, and other supplies to attend college. Because of this many students resort to taking out student loans that could potentially cost them more in the future. With the cost of attending college constantly rising many people are finding themselves asking the question of rather or not college is really worth the cost. Also, some people feel that going to college is a waste of time. Some feel this way because not all jobs require degrees, so they feel there is no purpose in spending long hours at an institution obtaining one. Others feel that they should not be required to meet the general education requirements of most colleges, but should instead be able to use the time taking classes relevant to their career field. Many people argue that because of these reasons college is not worthwhile. However, despite these facts, going to college has several benefits that make it very valuable.…

For effective education retention, a study plan must be well-organized and taught thoroughly. Some instructors become lackadaisical causing the students to not be fully prepared for a final test while depending solely on that professor’s teachings. No matter how organized and thorough a lesson plan is designed, if the material is not taught right, the scores will not be right. Students should not depend only on the professor. They should combine what is taught to the with their own study method so…

The rapidly rising cost of higher education faced by all high school students, is making us think twice before deciding our education goals beyond high school. I feel that education is a choice to be made, and should therefore be affordable for everyone who is willing to put forth their time and energy to accomplish his goal. The decision to pursue a college degree hits low income families the most, its hard enough to reach ends meet, and then adding the burden of higher tuition rates makes their situation worse.…

A good student pays attention in class, does his homework, and studies every night for the upcoming test to achieve that perfect 100% score. However, what makes a student great is the ability to achieve the same results, without having to do that ridiculous amount of absolutely unnecessary work. Learning to adapt to ones surroundings in order to achieve that A+ without having to do a single bit of work is a prime example of a student whom is going places in the world. Although it may seem impossible to some, this incredible feat can be achieved if you follow three simple rules. If you want to be that A+ student, you must go to sleep early, love every teacher of every class, and ultimately, must have some “study buddies.”…

Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it! Responsibility is the difference between leading and being led. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting.…
