I Believe in Choices
I believe in choices
By Haidn Fleming
A homeless man may appear less than you or
I, who are at the peak of society with high hopes for a grand life and wealth, but this man once had these hopes or dreams for his unforeseeable future. But to you and me all we see is a bum, an addict, and a waste of space. Even if that is not what you think, that is how this man is represented in the eyes of society. Because of this man’s choices others judge him, which lead to his life being poverty stricken. This is why I b elieve that the choices you make define your self in the eyes of others.
Life its self is not pleasant; its a hard world were one misstep can change your life; an action or word can change how you think about yourself or how others look at you; it can chan ge your actual physical appearance as well. I can’t say that I know this from my own life, but it is shown through others and they’re actions but none as clearly as one of my friend’s brothers.
There was once a guy I new (a brother to a friend), not as well to be a friend but our families were close so I heard most of what happened about the progression of his choices and how it affected the people he loved and how he might be viewed as a person today. The boy had great musical talent and like any other perso n, had high hopes for the world. But he started to change; things started disappearing from the house and no one knew why, his mother kept finding cigarettes in the drive way, friends and of the boy kept disappearing (not in physical manner, but they just weren’t friends anymore). Things slowly got worse and now the boy was eighteen in jail, a high school drop out.
This was not the end of the story or the beginning; the boy’s now a full - grown man, story was just beginning as he was fingerprinted and put int o a cell. Theses choices weren’t erased and now most people’s views are clouded with judgment of the man’s actions
