Homosexuals: Should Our Society Accept Them?

One of the many controversial issues we have in our society is Homosexuality. Homosexuality is a change in one’s identity and lifestyle due to having sexual attractions or relationships with a person of the same sex. Our society has two views about homosexuality or being a homosexual. The traditional views on homosexuality are it is an aberration, a sin, an abnormality, and it is against the bible. On the other hand, some people consider it as a very normal thing, a choice and a right. “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.”, Leviticus 20:13. As stated in the bible verse, being a homosexual is a disgust. It is a humiliation. To most Christians, whoever is a homosexual is a disgrace and God will punish them for it. Didn’t God create man and woman to merge as one? He never stated anything about a man and a man merging as one before Him. Choosing to be homosexual is rather the same as choosing to disobey God. Homosexuals are harmful to our society and especially a threat to children. homosexuals are more prone to molest children and that it is possible to recruit children into homosexuality and that homosexuals carry out such acts of recruitment. Anyone may get influenced by homosexuality, once your peers are one of it then it is most likely you would get involved too.
“In itself, homosexuality is as limited as heterosexuality: the ideal would be capable of loving a woman or a man, to any human being, without feeling fear, inhibition or obligation.”, said Simone De Beauvoir. Every human being has a right. A choice. A freedom. We are not in the position to judge and mistreat anyone who is homosexual. Homosexuality is okay. Being a homosexual is just a freedom of expression. We are all given the right to express ourselves. God created all of us to love on another. There is absolutely no problem when a man loves another man. Everyone must be treated equally. What

The Roman Catholic Church provides a view on homosexuality which they claim solves the issue of homosexuality as a sexual dilemma. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that homosexuals should be treated with respect and compassion and that discrimination should be avoided. The Church teaches that homosexual feelings are not wrong, but putting those feelings into practice is. Homosexual actions are sinful because they are contrary to natural law as they do not allow for reproduction. Homosexuals are, therefore, encouraged to pray and seek the help and support of their church to live a life of chastity. The Catholic Church will argue that they have resolved the sexual dilemma of homosexuality by reaching a sort of compromise which states that homosexuality is acceptable to a certain capacity. This solves the issue from a religious perspective and provides the view that homosexuality is not morally wrong.…

In Chapter 8 entitled “Does the Bible Condemn Loving, Committed Homosexual Relationships?” Copan dissects the issue of homosexuality in a delicate fashion. As Christians, it is very easy to place the “gay lifestyle” on the hot seat and think of it as one of the worst sins one can possibly commit. Not diminishing the sinfulness of homosexuality, Copan explains that “Scripture doesn’t highlight homosexual acts as the greatest wrongs but includes them in lists of other sinful practices.” (92) (Such as fornication, idolaters, and adulterers (1Cor. 6:9-10)) “All too often self-proclaimed “Bible-believing Christians” can act with a smug moral superiority toward homosexuals…” (78) Heterosexual people act this way because they cannot understand how something so unnatural can even be a coherent thought for a person. Copan states that as Christians we should be welcoming to everyone from every background and lifestyle. Another point that is made is that Scripture doesn’t speak against homosexual inclinations, only homosexual actions. Everyone lusts. Whether it is heterosexual or homosexual, lust is a sin; the decision to act on that lust is a different story. It is just as bad for a man to lust after a man, as it is for a man to lust after a woman (lust is lust). God says that we have already committed adultery in our minds just by lusting. Although the cause of homosexuality is unknown, people can have homosexual feelings AND still be a Christian as longs they do not act upon their desires. Many homosexuals use the excuse of “That’s the way I was born” in…

Homosexuality is defined as the romantic, sexual attraction and or sexual activity involving members of the same sex. In the bible God created man and woman for a purpose. This purpose was to be able to reproduce the population and for one man to be in love and with one woman. I do not believe that in a homosexuality house hold that a child would be raised properly and normally like most children are able to be raised. I feel putting children in that environment is suggesting that homosexuality is okay and it truly isn’t when in terms of the bible. This sin was so important to God that he directly approached the subject in the bible saying it is a sin and that a man should be with a woman and a woman should be with a man. Being a huge supporter of the Christian faith because I am apart of that faith, I believe that being a homosexual is dishonorable and truly upsets God.…

    Gay Option

In the article “The Gay Option”, Stephanie Fairyngton argues that it is wrong to think about homosexuality as deviations from nature’s norm. She understands that it is easy for people to think about homosexuality as an illness rather than a person’s choice. The main reason for this is that it is hard to understand people who choose this challenging state of beings. Because society has a stereotype of heterosexuality as somehow better choice than homosexuality, they would think that person who chooses to love same-sex person are sinful and immoral. Therefore, it becomes very challenging to accept people who chose to be homosexuals. On the other hand, it is easy for people to accept gays and lesbians, when they think about it as a biological abnormality. The author understands that until people think about homosexuality as a predetermined abnormality, homosexuals would have a bigger chance to be accepted by society and be recognized by law. The main reason for this is that people who think about homosexuality as about something that is fixed they would lose the threat of homosexuality and see it as absolute as race or sex. The author wants to prove that if person has a desire to love a same-sex person, it should be seemed as normal as have a desire to pursuing a passion for any spiritual or emotional cravings. She believes that every person has a right to choose the way that can make him happy. Therefore, society shouldn’t eliminate people who choose a different way of love because this is the way that makes those people satisfied.…

Ever since the beginning of creation, God made man and woman to reproduce and create humanity. God never in between allowed or said that same sex marriage was permissible or was the natural way to create a generation. For example in Genesis chapter 19 the story of Sodom and Gomorrah explained the wickedness of the city that mainly strived from homosexuality. Genesis 19:5- And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us that we may know them. The city 's perverseness made God infuriated and led to the destruction of that city turning it into fire and brimstone. This gives evidence that homosexuality is a religious sin, which is analogous to many other Biblical prohibitions, like committing adultery which transgresses ethics.…
