I Am Legend Analysis
Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable... and manmade. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City... and maybe the world. But he is not alone. He is surrounded by "the Infected" -- victims of the plague who have mutated into carnivorous beings who can only exist in the dark and who will devour or infect anyone or anything in their path. For three years, Neville has spent his days scavenging for food and supplies and faithfully sending out radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. All the while, the Infected lurk in the shadows, watching Neville?s every move, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind?s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But his blood is also what The Infected hunt, and Neville knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time.

MY THOUGHTS.

From my personal point of view for 'Smith' to play a character that's alone throughout an entire film and to pass it off so well, he deserves a round of applause. What attracts me to the film so deeply is not just the story but the elegance of how well the film adapts and plays out. The audience are straight away emotionally connecting with Robert Neville (Smith) and i found myself striving for him to find the viral cure and some means means of civilization. The audience are teared through themes of honour, pride, passion, love, hate, determine, i felt as though i was close to shedding a tear many times throughout the film.

Up until the very end of the film things got gradually worse for smith. For me the most sad but beautiful shot in the entire film is when 'Robert's' god 'Samantha' gets killed and smith drives off in his SUV. The camera pans out from Smith to show a spectacular view of road and cars

In Richard Matheson’s novel, I Am Legend, Robert Neville is portrayed as, and believes that he is, a hero. As what may be the last known, non-infected human left on the planet, Robert Neville does what he thinks needs to happen; he single-handedly kills Vampire-Zombies one by one in order to stay alive and to hopefully find other survivors. Although these actions may seem heroic; in the end, Robert Neville realized he had become the ultimate plague in the eyes of the rest of the remaining world (i.e. the living infected Vampire-Zombies). Matheson wants readers to know, even if you are acting in such a way you consider morally right, it may not agree with the rest of society’s morals. For the duration of the novel, readers become sympathetic for Neville and understand his actions for a person in such a dire situation.…

This movie took so many unexpected turns it is unbelievable. The most interesting thing is that considering the era when the movie took place, there is such a rich plot and the overall story is extremely intriguing. This movie exhibits many social standards that we often still face today making it somewhat relatable to present day society. Feelings of insecurity was really the main background of this movie and that is what made it most relatable. The way the setting was exhibited through the film, the emotion of the film was captured through that.…

In Legend by Marie Lu, the author uses flashbacks to show symbolism, foreshadowing, and the importance of the pendant to Day. At this point in the story, Day is still locked up and June feels that the Republic is untrustworthy. June has just brought Day the pendant that he lost a while back outside the hospital trying to steal plague medicine. As soon as Day sees the pendant he is surprised and happy, and then remembers his life when his dad was still around. In days flashback he remembers the first time he laid eyes the coin/pendant. “I managed to get a good look as he turned it over in his hands. A bird on one side, a man’s profile on the other. Throughout the movie my feelings grew toward one particular character (McMurphy). Although I think this character was impersonating that he had a psychological disorder, I admired the way he treated the other patients. McMurphy's attempt to encourage the other patients made the movie well worth watching. Many of the patients were self admitted and…

The way the world is seen varies with each passing person. What is observed as good from one may be the damning pathway to hell for another. Many times these beliefs are instilled upon us at a very early age which can result with a twisted outlook on life that we had little to no control over. As we grow older we are than further influenced through our religion (or lack of), culture, and passed experiences. With that in mind, it is easy to see that reality can be just as interchangeable and further raises the difficult question of what is real? Robert Neville, a man who on a daily basis struggles with the reality of being the last man on earth often only manages to keep going by holding on to the intangibles of hope, denial, and fear.…

I had never seen it before so I enjoyed trying to see the perspective I was looking at. I received a deeper understanding as to why he was so determined and why his values seemed to be so important to him. I noticed that although he was going through so much, he stuck by his own and believed in himself. When I used conflict to observe Fortune, he caught me as the conflict…
