The following is the transcript of our interview:

1. Q: When did you start this business and what made you choose this type of business and who are your clients?

A: We started this business in May 2005. My business is a chemical trading company for raw materials for paints, printing inks, adhesives, and other related industries. We chose this business based on my personal background on selling chemical raw materials for the mentioned industries. We distribute raw materials for paint applications like architectural or residential (houses), automotive, and decorative paints. We also cater to companies manufacturing packaging for foods like plastics and paper bags, and boxes which are being printed.

2. Q: Where did you get your capital for your business and how much capital was required when you started this business?

A: We use bank loans and suppliers/principals from the exporting company abroad by giving us appropriate terms and lead time to distribute their products in different sectors of industries. We do out-sourcing of services like importing a company’s warehouse and logistics for documentation which gives us appropriate advantages in spreading product cost to be more competitive in the market. Our initial business capital to start up importing raw materials was at least 8 to 12 Million Pesos for a kick start. In doing this business, 50% will be your distributed product with terms of 90-120 days terms of payment and the rest are buffering stocks of inventory on hand that you will supply at any given time of our customer’s requirement.
