Global Warming Caused by Man Global warming is a fact. We know this because over the past ten to fourteen years the earth has been heating up. We have produced record breaking temperatures not only in the United States, but around the world as mentioned in Al Gore’s Nobel Prize winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. The argument still remains, though, what is the cause of global warming? Posted this week in the Wall Street Journal was an article written by Jeffrey Ball that stated two years ago, a United Nations scientific panel won a Nobel Peace Prize after coming to the conclusion that global warming is "unequivocal" and is "very likely" caused by man. Although many people disagree and believe that global warming is naturally occurring, I would argue that this epidemic is manmade for a number of reasons: 1) pollution which released by coal burning factories and our everyday use of vehicles, 2) the melting of the polar ice caps and excessive rain fall, 3) dying off of animals, timber, and land. Many people will argue the cause of global warming by saying that it is not manmade. Their reasons being for this are primarily the greenhouse gases, which are emitted naturally from the Earth to keep it at a comfortable temperature level. An article titled, Global Warming: A Natural Cycle or Human Result by Manav Tanneeru was posted on CNN’s web page. Within this article Tanneeru stated that some scientists and observers, who believe the global warming trend is threatening, say that it could be caused simply from the latest shift in the cyclical patterns of a planet's life (CNN). This cannot be true because these temperatures that we have been having are rising and have been over a period of time. These temperatures as Al Gore mentioned will continue to rise because he believes that the greenhouse gases are being put into the atmosphere by man (Inconvenient).
