Read the following passage carefully and answer ALL the questions.

I Upon finishing school, a majority of students often face the dilemma of what they want to do in the future. One should however, realize that choosing the right course of study to fulfill one’s ambition can be both exciting and a daunting experience. Given below are some steps and guidelines that you should bear in mind when making such significant and crucial decisions.

II The first step is to fully understand who you are and what you want. Never allow yourself to succumb to the needs of parental or peer pressure. In order to do this, you must be able to analyze yourself objectively. When analyzing yourself, list down your strengths, weaknesses, desires, interests, skills and personality traits. Decide whether you are an indoor or outdoor person. Remember, you are planning for your future so be honest and objective in your analysis. If you are unsure about certain aspects, get help or feedback from a sibling, parent or best friend. Once all these aspects are clear, you will feel better equipped to make decisions as to your future career and course of study. If you have the means, sit for career aptitude tests. The scores obtained from such tests can help you decide on a possible course of study for a future career.

III Once you have successfully analyzed yourself, gather career information. Visit the library, career and guidance centres or other resource centres where you can read about various careers suitable for people with your interests and skills. Make an appointment with either your school or community counsellor to get further information and clarification. Visit work places and talk to people working in your field of study or interest to get hands-on- knowledge and a realistic picture of the job and working environment. Having a broad knowledge of various careers helps you make comparisons so that you can compare and contrast them with your own
