PowerPoint presentation

Being part of Microsoft Office has allowed PowerPoint to become the world’s most widely used presentation program developed for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS computer operating systems. It is widely used by businesspeople, educators, and trainers (wordiq.com 2010).
The knowledge that you obtained in Educational Technology will guide you in performing tasks on this topic.

Cooperating School: ATEC Technological School
Date: October 10,2014

My Expectations:
What are my goals in this activity? How do I expect to achieve these goals?
My goals in this activity is for me to learn how to effectively use PowerPoint Presentation as the teaching aid and to be able to learn how to incorporate the rules in making a PowerPoint Presentation while making my own Presentation.
I can achieve these goals by observing the teacher on how she manage and use the presentation during the discussion. I will make my own presentation and observe the rules like the proper font color, font size, and the number of lines per slide.

Observations:
1. Choose a year level/grade that uses PowerPoint presentation. What is the lesson taught in the subject?

The class I haveobserved is OMT 2-B in ATEC Technological School. The lesson taught is the Seven Principles of Eagle in the subject Theology

2. Is the PowerPoint utilized effectively in class?

The Powerpoint is well utilized by the professor. He put lictures in the Presentation that attracts the attention of the students. Healso show a video of the life of the eagle. The only problem is the font color and font size of the text, it is not visible.

3. If you were the teacher, what other forms of media or computer program will you use to make the presentation more appreciated by the students?

If I were the teacher, I will make sure that the text in the presentation is visible because it may distract the students and they won'tlisten anymore in the discussion.
Class Turn-in:
Submit an analysis of your observations. What have you learned? Is PowerPoint presentation easy or difficult to use? Will you be using it in your own classes?

Poerpoint Presentation is a widely used presentation program in the computer. It is very easy to use and you can also navigate easily in the program.
In this topic I have learned how to integrate PowerPoint Presentation during a class. When using PowerPoint Presentation, it is important to make sure that everything is visible. Visibility of the text in the presentation may affect the students focus and attention in the discussion. If the text are not visible enough, the students might not pay attention.
When I am already a teacher, I think I will use PowerPoint Presentation in my own class. Presentation like this stimulates and motivate the students to learn. It also attracts the attention of the students because they are seeing something new and they can also see pictures of what you are discussing that enables them to visualize and understand the lesson better.

Portfolio:
Prepare two PowerPoint presentations: one showing only pictures (choose your theme) of not more than 10 slides; and, one, showing a semi-detailed plan of your lesson

Cooperating School: _______________________________________________
Date: ___________

My Expectations: Based on the premise expressed on Take-Off, how do you expect to achieve this expectation?
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Observations:
1. What teaching aids have you actually used in class (e.g. a chart used as part of a report presented in class or flash cards in a demo of lesson presented in class)?

The teaching aids I have used already in a class are visual aids, video presentation and powerpoint presentation.

2. Are the teaching aids utilized effectively? How do you know they are effective?
Yes, the teaching aids are utilized effectively. My classmates learned the topic I have reported. They are also motivated to listen because they see what I am talking about because of the visual aids and PowerPoint Presentation I used.

3. If the teaching aids were not that effective, what do you propose as an alternative?
If the teaching aid is not that effective, you should think more on how to make it more effective by putting animations and being more creative.
You can also give them handouts were there are space provided for their notes.

Class Turn-in: Submit an analysis of your observations. Compare and contrast your observations to one of your classmates. What should you do to improve your useof teaching aids in your presentations?

Within the museum you’re exposed to over 30,000 artifacts and several exhibitions that were primarily set out for individual pieces of African American history. It made me feel like I was taking a closer encounter with history and the importance of the African American culture and life. Every exhibition had its own feel to it, and its own relevance, with each display and individual storyline, made it all the more very special. I think with every exhibition, the intention was to make people feel like they were truly once a part of that time and age. My field study was conducted at the Talented and Gifted School for Young Scholars (T.A.G.) Middle School located in the East Harlem section of Manhattan. T.A.G. is a selective public school, governed by the NYC Department of Education. It was founded in 1989 as a magnet program within the school system’s District 4, and became an independent K-8 gifted and talented school in 2004. T.A.G. is one of only three gifted and talented programs in New York City. It serves students identified with gifted abilities in grades K-8. Children are admitted to kindergarten through 2nd grade based on their scores on two tests, the Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT) and the Bracken School Readiness Assessment (BSRA). Children whose scores put them in the 97th percentile nationally are eligible. There are a handful of seats open in the upper grades. Middle school admission is based on grades, standardized test scores and teacher recommendations. There are approximately 500 students comprised mainly of African-American, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern backgrounds, reportedly only 2% of the student body is Caucasian. Each grade level has two classes of up to 25 students each. The school is located in a building that houses four other mini schools, a common practice in schools these days. For instance the high school I attended has been divided into five different high schools.…
